Link was early to rise. Then again, he had to be considering that he is a knight. He briskly walked down the long hallway ready to greet Zelda. As Link came closer to the door he noticed it was slightly open. He started to pick up speed and slowly started to run. Link could hear talking, arguing, he burst in. Zelda jumped at the sudden noise, as did Thane.

"How dare you just burst into the Princess's room!" Thane snapped at the young guard who was catching his breath. Slowly, Link regained his posture.

"S-Sorry, sir. I thought there had been an intruder, I was only worried." Link's eyes shifted to Zelda who wore a small smile.

"That is no-"

"Thank you, Link." Zelda quickly interrupted.

"Thank you for doing your job." She bowed her head to him as he did the same gesture.

"I think it's only fair that my personal guard should get to hear what you have to say, don't you agree Thane?" He pressed his lips together, tight.

"Yes, I suppose." Link could hear hate slip through his teeth. Soon Thane had a small grin.

"As I was saying, before we were rudely interrupted. We have found a suitor for you, Princess." Zelda rolled her eyes.

"And I have already told you, I have been a solo ruler of this castle long enough! Why can't I be crowned Queen and get it over with?"

"Because, your majesty, the ancient law states that you must be wed to a Prince in order to properly take your place as Queen. We have found a family in the West that has a Prince your age. He is the youngest is the line and won't be named King anytime soon at his castle. Since you are the only child we have offered your hand to him." Link gave a small glare at Thane as Zelda gave him a full face of disgust.

"You mean to say to me that you just gave me away? Am I a prize, Thane? Am I!?" Zelda's voice began to grow loud and stern. Thane took a step back and tried to compose himself.

"N-No, your highness, I-"

"Don't give me a lame excuse! I should be able to make my own decisions! I do not want a suitor! Do you hear?" Link had to touch Zelda's arm to remind her to cool down. She took a breath.

"I'm sorry, Princess. We will have to discuss later." Thane turned quickly and left. Without a proper explanation or even an answer. Link slowly walked to her door and closed it. When he looked back at her she was sitting on the edge of her bed. Link took a deep breath as it rushed out soon afterwards making Zelda look up.

"It's not fair..." Zelda simply stated to her best friend.

"I know, Zel... But do you think it may be for the best?" Link was looking downward, he didn't want to make eye contact with her. His heart broke at his own words. Though he had no clue as to why. Zelda is his friend, nothing more, nothing less.

"Don't." Link's head shot up and saw Zelda standing with tear stained cheeks.

"Don't ever say that!"

"Z-Zelda?" Link took a step toward her when suddenly Zelda just pressed herself against him. Link was in a state of shock, taking him a minute to wrap his arms around her.

"It's going to be okay." Zelda just shook her head.

"I already told you Link..." Her voice was quiet.

"I don't want to marry someone I don't love." Link rubbed her back gently.

"But you certainly can't marry someone who doesn't have royal blood, Zel." That nickname, "Zel". It always made Zelda's heart skip. Many people have called her by that name, why was it different with him? That's when sue realized she just threw herself into his arms.
