Soon after my father left my room, I stood at the window opposite to house number six and just stared at it. How could a house have something so out of this world and no one knew about it? Or maybe they did and that was why they avoided it. Maybe they were trying to protect it?
I was soon distracted by a little boy playing with his basketball in the street. His dribbling skills were excellent. I guessed that he had felt the feeling of someone staring at him, so he stopped. His head then tilted towards house number six and not my house. His feeling was not that accurate, I thought. I looked back up at house number six and by the time I looked back down, the boy was gone.
"Interesting." I said.
For the rest of that day, I couldn't take the fact that my father was planning to destroy the portal, off my mind. I knew it was the safe was to play it, but deep down inside me, I wanted to go back there. But how was I going to sneak out of the house without my aunt or my father seeing me.
In the night was the best option. When they were asleep. I thought of a plan and I left the house at 11:30 the same night, and quietly locked the door behind me. I was about to step out into the road, when I heard a familiar voice.
"Jordan where are you going?"
I was caught. I turned around slowly cursing in my mind.
"It's eleven in the night. What are you doing up?"
"I could ask you the same thing." I looked at Devon and folded my arms. "Nice pajamas." I said.
"Thanks. I could not sleep, so I came out to breeze out and see the constellations. What about you?"
I hesitated for a while before I answered him.
"Well...I kinda snuck out to go check out house number six."
"Why are you so obsessed with that house?"
"If you come I'll show you."
He took a while to think about it before agreeing. We walked across the road and went around to the back of the house where I had to turn on a flashlight I had brought, in order to see, as the street lights didn't shine around there. I opened the door and Devon came in after I did.
"So what do you want to show me?" He asked.
"Just follow me."
I led him to the bedroom I found the portal in and opened the door only to find that the closet had been chained up. I walked up to it and held the padlock on my hand while I was wondering why it was chained up. Was my father the one who locked it up?
"You wanted to show me a closet?" Devon asked.
I couldn't see his face, but I knew he had arched one eyebrow and his mouth was slightly open.
"It is a portal. But some-" He interrupted me.
"A portal! How could you think a closet was a portal?! I'm going home and you should too."
The room suddenly went cold.
"Well, well, well. If it isn't little miss rogem bracelet." I heard.
"Did you hear that?" Devon asked. I could hear the fear in his voice.
I was still holding on to the chains on the closet and I felt them drop. I then felt someone grab me. I shined the flashlight at the person. It was Devon.
"What did you do that for?" I quietly asked.
"Seems like you don't have your little friend to save you this time." The mysterious voice said.
I shined the flashlight all around the room and had seen no one.
I heard Devon scream out in pain and then I felt the skin on my right leg rip. I didn't hurt much, but I couldn't show that it hurt at all, so I bit down on my bottom lip and kept in every sound. I stepped back and hit the closet. I reached for the knob and pulled it. I jumped in and dragged Devon with me.
We landed in the middle of a forest. I could see everything clearly as Eligathy had the same amount of moons as suns. I turned off my flashlight, and looked at Devon. He was lying on the ground motionless. I dropped down on my knees beside him and checked for a pulse. It was weak, but at least it was there.
The next thing I noticed was a dark stain all over the front of his shirt. I lifted his shirt and saw claw marks all across his chest.
"Oh my God!" I exclaimed.
