A Year Later
An entire year had passed and Devon was still in a coma in the hospital. I had visited him a couple of times on the weekends to just talk, even though I wouldn't be able to get a response.
I still had not told my father about finding my mother, which meant that I lied about the whole reason I stayed in Eligathy. He seemed to have been satisfied with the reason I gave him, and I was a little okay with that.
The community had been rebuilt and my father and I moved back into our original house, house number three, and Devon's mother moved back into the one beside ours. She was left alone to live there, as I found out that both her husband and Daren had gotten killed in a Djinn attack before I had returned home. I went over there sometimes to keep her company so that she didn't go crazy over in the house by herself.
My life didn't go back to normal, but I tried to make it work. I took walks around the place when the bad memories came up, and I wished that they had not happened. I wished everyone was still there.
I wished that I had known before that something bigger and worse was to come.
