"Bakashi, those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum."
It was all a blur. It happened so fast. He sacrificed himself for them. Obito was pinned. The entire side of his body was crushed. He was dying.
"Kakashi, take Rin and get out of here. It's no use. GO!"
"No! I'm not leaving you. I may be scum, but I'm not worse than scum. I'm not leaving you!"
"You both are going to die. Please...leave me. Save yourselves."
He flew through the hand signs faster than ever. He was not leaving his teammate, his best friend.
"Doton: Mud Supports!"
Several mud pillars rose from the ground. The supports lifted the boulder trapping Obito. Rin rushed forward to grab him. She looped her arms under his and dragged him away from the falling rocks. Kakashi released the jutsu and ran over to them. The two of them mustered up all the strength they could and picked him up. They were supporting him on their shoulders and took off to meet up with Minato.
For the first few minutes of travel, Rin was very careful to not hurt him since she was on his injured side. Within five minutes of being carried, Obito's body couldn't handle the trauma, pain, blood loss, and exhaustion and he fully lost consciousness. When he passed out, Rin and Kakashi stumbled a bit due to the person they were carrying suddenly going limp. They both had to press their heads against Obito's to stabilize his head and neck. Rin was less cautious about hurting him while holding him and was more worried about actually carrying him.
They ran nonstop until they reached the meeting place. They arrived to see Minato pacing around. He looked up and started to smile seeing that they arrived. His expression immediately morphed into one of shock and horror at the sight in front of him. His three students were standing in front of him, covered in blood, shaking, one was missing an eye, another was unconscious, and the last looked on verge of collapse.
"Oh Kami. What happened?!?" He asked, starting to freak out.
"I was kidnapped and they came back for me." Rin started explaining as she lowered Obito to the ground.
"We need to leave, but..." Minato was confused. He needed to know exactly what happened.
"Neither of them can travel right now. Anyways, they came to get me. Kakashi lost his eye in a fight and broke his tanto. Obito activated his Sharingan and saved him. We were attacked while fleeing. The enemy triggered a trap that caused the cave to start collapsing. While running, one came down right above Kakashi. Obito shoved him out of the way and was pinned instead. Kakashi refused to leave him and managed to raise the boulders. Then we came here." Rin continued explaining while she worked on healing Obito. Behind her, Kakashi had tears running down his cheeks. Without warning, he passed out. Minato managed to catch him before he hit the ground. He gently laid him on the grass before returning to his spot in front of Rin.
"You know basic medical ninjutsu, right? Do you know how to reset a bone?" She asked.
"Um, yes and yes." He answered. He already knew what she was going to say next and had to mentally prepare for resetting a fourth of the bones in his student's body.
"I need you to stop the rest of the bleeding and reset the broken bones. Don't even bother with the crushed ones. You can't reset those." She instructed before sitting down next Kakashi.
While Minato worked on Obito, Rin tended to Kakashi. She sat on her knees and laid Kakashi over her lap. She put her arm behind his neck and her other hand was holding his. He eventually came to and sat up. He kept mumbling about how he let everyone down. Rin just shook her head. She leaned forward and hugged him and kept repeating "it's okay", "he's going to live", and "not your fault". When he finally calmed down she guided him over to Obito and Minato. She managed to calm Kakashi down completely. Rin sat next to Minato and began to work on Obito's face. Kakashi sat across from from them and just sat quietly.
Rin worked on Obito's eye to ensure he wouldn't lose it. Minato reset most of the bones that were able to be reset. Together they had almost completely stopped the bleeding. Rin ripped a strip of her apron off and folded it. She took her apron off and pulled out a kunai. She used the kunai to separated the belt from the rest. The removed the strings and laid the four parts in front of her.
"What are you going to with those?" Minato asked staring at the apron Rin had just dismantled.
"I'm going to stabilize him. We need to get him to the hospital. We need to leave before it gets dark." She stated.
"Kakashi, go soak this with water." She instructed, handing him the small strip of cloth. He stood up and headed over to a small stream.
"Minato-sensei, can I have the bandages from around your shins?" She asked.
"Sure. Do you need anything else?" He started unwrapping his bandages.
"Can you gather some branches for a splint?" She asked, taking the bandages he had handed her.
"Here." Kakashi handed her the dripping cloth.
She immediately began to work. Thankfully, she had paid attention in the "First-Aid in the Field" lesson. She cleaned most of the blood off Obito's wounds. She squeezed most of the blood and water out of the cloth and placed it on his forehead to keep him cool. She looped the string under his arm and tied it behind his neck, making a sling. She laid his injured arm over his chest and picked up the belt of her apron. She slid the belt under him. Then, she centered the largest piece of her apron on the belt. She wrapped the cloth around his injured side and tied it together with the belt. She used one of Minato's bandages to secure it around his shoulders and tucked the bottom into his waistband. She used the smaller bandages in her medic pack to wrap part of his face. Minato returned with an armful of small branches. She had him and Kakashi make the splint for Obito's leg.
"Minato-Sensei, you have the most energy. You carry Obito. Kakashi and I will carry the gear." Rin instructed. Minato looked at her and then over to Kakashi, the squad leader.
"You heard Rin. Let's go." He stated as he picked up his and Obito's backpacks.
Rin grabbed her and Minato's backpacks. They headed for Konoha. They failed the mission. They didn't care. Obito was the most important thing right now. Kakashi lost an eye. Obito was crushed. Rin was drained of almost all chakra. Minato was internally freaking out. This mission was definitely going to cause long lasting trauma.
