I sat with Adrian on his couch finishing my glass of wine. He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and I smiled.
"This is nice." he said smiling.
"It is." I said and set my glass down. "Thank-you Adrian."
"For what?" He sat up and looked at me.
"This. Letting me stay here."
"It's not a problem. Really. I'm happy to do it."
"Still. If it weren't for you, I'd probably be dead. Or close to it." He grabbed my hands tightly and I looked at him.
"I am not going to let anything happen to you. Okay?" I nodded and laid my head on his shoulder. "Do you want to come with me tomorrow?"
"Where at?"
"Lunch. With my parents and Lissa...Rose was suppose to go with me..till everything happened."
"Are you sure I can even go?"
"I want you to come with me. You are going to be my guardian. Remember?"
"I'd love to go."
"Let's get you to bed." He stood up and took my hand pulling me up with him. I looked at him and he leans close and just as our lips are about to touch someone knocked on the door. "Everytime..." He let go of my hands and walked over to the door unlocking and opening it. "Dad." I looked over and saw dad walk in. "What are you doing here?"
"Your mother and I were here for a meeting. She is on her way here now." he said noticing me.
"Now is a really bad time."
"I can see that."
"Don't look at her like that." Adrian walked over to me as his mother walked in. "Can you at least shut the door?" I noticed his mother had luggage at the same time he did. "Why do you have that stuff?"
"We are staying here a few days."
"Katherine. I am so sorry about this." Adrian said taking my hand. I picked up the glasses and walked in the kitchen. He led them to the extra bedroom. I put the glasses on the counter and sat on a stool. I felt Adrian's hand on mine. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine." He lifted my head up and I looked at him. "Really. I am."
"Sorry about my father."
"It's okay." I laid a hand on his cheek. He laid his hand over mine and smiled.
"Come on. Let's get to bed. I'll make you breakfast in the morning."
"Breakfast in bed?"
"Of course." He picked me up and walked to the bedroom. He kicked the door shut and stood me up.
"Do you have anything I can borrow for bed?"
"I have some things I got you for your birthday. Want them now?"
"Nah. I want to wait for those."
"I'll get you one of my shirts and shorts." He smiled and opened a dresser drawer. "Here. You can change in the bathroom." I took the clothes from him and walked in the bathroom shutting the door behind me. I changed quickly and looked in the mirror. I gently touched a bruise from one of Dimitri's previous beatings.
"Katherine? You okay in there?" Adrian asked.
"Yea. I'll be right out." I said pulling my hair in a messy bun. I walked out turning off the light. Adrian's back was to me as he was changing channels on the radio. I noticed the scars on his back. I walked up behind him and wrapped my arms around him. He laid his hands over mine. I could tell he was stressed. Not just about his parents but Rose and now Dimitri.
"What are you thinking about?"
"Everything." He sat me on the bed and looked at me.
"Hey. Look at me." I looked up at him. "What can I do?"
"Don't leave me. Adrian I can't loose anyone else right now." He lifted my head up.
"I will always be right by your side. Nothing will ever tear me away." I laid against him and felt my eyes close as sleep took over me.
