True Love Is Real

Katherine's Pov

"Katherine. What's going on?" Adrian's father asked.

"That story you told. Was it true?" I asked.

"Every word. My parents refused for my happiness. I loved Alex. I was so happy with her. The way Adrian is with you. If you make my son happy then be with him. I know you guys are engaged. You hide it well, but he doesn't. I know you guys had this dinner to announce it to us and I am overjoyed that he is happy."

"His mother?"

"She will come around. If not? Oh well. You make him happy. And I will love the day I am able to call you my daughter in law."

"Katherine? Everything good?" Adrian asked joining us.

"Yeah. Everything is great." I said smiling at him. 

"I'll meet the two of you inside. Hurry back," his father said and walked back inside. Adrian wrapped his arms around my waist and looked at me.

"I'm sorry about my mother. I really am. She had no right." he said.

"Look it's okay. I've been told worse and called worse than useless. You're father's story kinda helped me a bit. He gave us his blessing."

"Wait..he knows?"

"You don't hide it as well as you think you do." 

"We should get back in there." I nodded and he took my hand tightly and smiled. We got back to the table and I saw my brother looking at the menu. I touched his shoulder and he looked at me.

"Katherine. I am so sorry. You are right. I just..." he started to say.

"Demetri stop. It's okay. I promise. You were just looking out for me. Just trust me. Okay?" I said and he stood up and hugged me tightly.

"Dad would be proud of you. You know that right?"

"I hope so."

"I ordered you the salad for your appetizer."

"Sounds good." We all took our seats and everyone just talked.

Soon the night was over and Adrian was walking me to my room.

"Well...that was an interesting night wasn't it?" Adrian asked when we got to my door.

"It had its moments. That's for sure." I said. He wrapped an arm around my waist and lifted my head up.

"I'm proud of you. You know that right? You've amazed me every step of the way. Especially with dealing with my mother. She doesn't deserve you're kindness yet you give it to her anyway. I am proud."

"We will get through this Adrian. I have to believe that. If I can't believe in love then I can't believe in anything."

"I love you Katherine. I always will."

"I love you too Adrian." I kissed him softly and he tightened his arms around my waist pulling me closer. I looked at him and smiled. "Goodnight." I kissed his cheek and walked inside. I shut the door and leaned against it smiling.

"Wasn't that cute." someone said.

"Who's there?" From the shadows stepped out Damon. "Damon."
