True Love Is Real

Adrian's Pov

I woke up the next morning seeing Katherine sleeping. I got up quietly to go make her breakfast. When I go to the kitchen I see my father coming from his room. I run my fingers through my hair and go to the kitchen.

"What are you doing son?" my father asked.

"Making Katherine breakfast." I said opening the fridge. I grabbed eggs and bacon knowing they are her favorite.

"What is your reason for being kind to this girl?"

"I like her dad. Sometimes it's okay to be nice." I grabbed a pan for eggs and a skillet for the bacon.

"But why her?"

"Because she isn't stuck up like all the girls you and mom pick for me. She is kind. Beautiful. You can't help but smile whenever she comes in the room. She is like the sunshine after the rain storm."

"Do you love this girl?"

"Dad. I just got out of a relationship. I am not rushing anything. I care for her. I know that much."

"Adrian.." Katherine said. I looked up seeing her eyes are red from crying. I walked over and hugged her tightly. Knowing she doesn't want to talk about it. That she just needs comfort. "It felt so real.."

"Shh...it's okay. It was just a dream. Go and lay back down. I'll bring in some tea for you when breakfast is done." She nodded and walked into the bedroom. I filled a kettle with water and put it on the stove.

"What was that about?" my dad asked.

"A nightmare. She's been having them for months." I flipped the eggs and put the bacon on a plate.

"I just don't get it."

"Dad this isn't something to analyze. I have no hidden agenda. I care about her. I want her safe." I put the eggs on a plate and grabbed a mug. I poured hot water in it from the kettle and grabbed a tea bag. I put the plate and mug on a tray. "Now if you will excuse me." I picked up the tray and walked in the bedroom. I see Katherine sitting in the middle of the bed flipping through channels on the tv. "Hungry?" She nodded putting the remote down. I sit beside her and put the tray on the bed.

"Why does your dad ask stuff like that?" she asked me looking down.

"I don't know. Wanted me to be with a royal I guess." I watched her eat slowly. I put my hand on her knee and doesn't talk until she looks at me. "Don't listen to him okay? They don't control who I like or who I'm with. It's my choice."

"What does that mean?"

"It means I would like to ask you to be.."

"Adrian!" Lissa yelled interrupting me.

"Why is someone always interrupting..I'll be back okay?" I kissed her head and walked out. I saw Lissa standing with Rose. "Get her out of here."

"Just hear me out." Rose said.

"You're kidding me right? Go."

"Lissa dear. how are you." my mother asked walking from the kitchen.

"I'm good." she said. Katherine walked out and I looked at her seeing her shake.

"Katherine? What is it?" I asked walking over slowly.

"I wouldn't." Rose said. I watched Katherine collapse and I caught her before her body could hit the floor. I felt her skin become ice cold.

"What did you do?"

"What I had to."

"Katherine come on...stay with me. Open your eyes. Please."

"She was getting in my way. So I did the only thing I could" I stood up holding her close to me and laid her on the couch. I traced my fingers down her cheek and felt a tear fall.

"Please...I need you here...open your eyes." I kiss her head and pick up a knife. I pin Rose to the wall and hold the knife to her throat. "Give me one reason I shouldn't. "

"She's wrong for you. Ms. Goody-Two Shoes. Remember our fun..."

"I love her Rose! She is right for me! Makes me want to be better!"

"She deserves to die!"

"That's where you're wrong. You do."

"Adrian. Stop." my dad said. I pushed the knife deeper into her throat. "Adrian killing her helps no one." I dropped the knife and stepped back. I looked down seeing my hands shake.

"Get out Rose." I said as I knelt down by the couch. "How do I help her..."

"Save her."

"And become shadow kissed?"

"You love her as much as you say? Save her. Don't lose your other half." I grabbed her hand and looked at her. "It's your choice son." He put a hand on my shoulder and then walked to his room. 

"I can't lose you. Not now. I'll do what it takes to bring you back to me. I kiss her lips softly and stand up. As I begin to walk away I feel her grab my hand.

"Adrian.." she said softly. I turn and look at her.

"Katherine? Thank-god." I stood her up and held her as close as I could. "I thought I lost you for good."

"You can never really lose me. I promise." I looked at her and I smiled.

"Come on. Go get dressed. It is your birthday and I intend to make this day perfect." She started to walk to the room when I grab her hand and pull her back to me. I cup her face with my hands and kiss her. "We will never part again."
