  Beep, beep, beep

Was that a heart monitor? Gray and the General must have found me finally. They took me back to the base, got me to the medics, and I'm okay. Everything is going to be fine.

My hopes were cut short by the rough voice.

"Matt, what the fuck are you doing?"

The beeping stop, and 'Matt' whined.

"It worked with Edd when he passed out. Ow!"

I tried to speak. To call out the names of Gray and the General. But I couldn't. My tongue was glued to the roof of my mouth, my lips sealed shut. Summoning all the strength I could, I managed to slowly blink my eyes open. A light burned right into my eyes. Matt squealed a bit.

"See? She's awake!"

Turning my head, I saw a face next to mine. He had strawberry blond hair and shining blue eyes, with freckles littered across his cheeks. Beside him was a blue hoodie. I followed the hoodie up to the head that owned it. A man with pitch black eyes and light brown hair, spiking up. His mouth was set in a scowl. He turned to look behind me.

"Edd! The girl is awake!"

Muffled footsteps, and suddenly two more bodies appeared. A tall, chubby man with a green hoodie and chestnut brown hair, and a man with a red hoodie and caramel hair that stuck up at an impossible angle, mimicking horns. Green hoodie, Edd it seemed, shooed Matt away and set a gentle hand on my forehead.

"Can you talk?"

I shouldn't trust them, they're strangers in a strange town. But there wasn't much of an option. Edd helped me sit up on the couch I was on, and I nodded to his question.

Prying my dry mouth open, I spoke in a raspy voice.

"Where am I?"

Sitting on the floor beside Matt, Edd motioned the other two to do the same.

"You passed out on the sidewalk. Our house was right there, and we didn't know if we could make it to the hospital in time. We patched up your wound."

Before I could thank them, the man in the red hoodie cut me off. He was the heavily accented voice, and it flowed very nicely through the room.

"What gave you such a nasty injury, anyway?"

Hesitation.

"I...don't know."

Not exactly a lie. Edd smiled sympathetically.

"That's alright, but I'm afraid you won't be able to move around much while it heals. Do you have someone you can call?"

Yes! I nodded eagerly, immediately regretting it as it made my head spin. I was handed a phone and my fingers began dragging across the keys. The number that was engraved in my brain was finally entered. Practically vibrating in my seat, I listened.

One ring.

Two rings.

Three.

My heart dropped to my stomach. His voicemail rang through my head and exited out my other ear.

After a long silence, Edd stood.

"You must be hungry, Miss...?"

I sighed and smoothed my (H/L), (H/C) locks out of my face.

"(F/N). (F/N) (L/N)."

***

The five of us were all sitting at the round kitchen table, eating eggs and bacon that Edd cooked. It was late morning, around 10 am. Blue and Red had properly introduced themselves as Tom and Tord, as I already figured Edd and Matt. I was also greeted by a grey cat named Ringo. She was currently rounding about our legs, begging for scraps.

Edd cleared his throat, gaining all attention. He looked me in the eyes, chocolate irises serious.

"I'm assuming you don't have anywhere to go, so I want to offer to let you stay here. We happen to have an extra room that's just used for storage, but we can clean it out for you."

Tom scowled.

"Are you sure Edd? We just kinda found her on the streets last night."

Tord waved his fork, the bacon attached being closely followed by the feline under the table.

"For once I agree with Thomas. She could be dangerous."

"Guys, don't be so rude, she's right there. And who does this house technically belong to?"

His eyebrows raised, daring them to challenge him. The two mumbled 'you', looking down at their plates.

"Exactly. So what do you say, (F/N)?"

I went over the pros and cons in my head. On one hand, these were four strange men. Though they didn't seem dangerous, you never knew. Besides, Tord was giving me a weird vibe. Meanwhile, on the other hand, I don't have anywhere else to go. I need somewhere safe I can stay while I find Gray Leader. I was positive he was looking for me.

I looked up at Edd.

"I'd love to."

Another pretty short one >:/ I'll try making them a little longer.

Peace out, Green Doodles ☆
