The next two months ticked by slowly. The only things that had changed about our lives were the lack of Paul and Pat's presences, no doubt Tord's doing, and the addition of Tom's new girlfriend.

Her name was Sarah, and she was a soldier as well. Around my age, and an absolute delight to be around. She had mid length brown hair that covered one eye, and her visible eye was an interesting shade of yellow.

At the time, the four of us were playing pool in the lounge. It was Matt's shot and he was taking forever. I leaned against the nearby wall, drink in hand, while Tom had an arm around Sarah.

"Matt, hurry the fuck up."

"Shush! You're ruining my shot (F/N)!"

Suddenly a loud alarm began to blare, causing Matt to mess up his shot.

"Aw man!"

Red lights complimented the shrill noise. Gunfire sounded out in the halls. The others had all rushed out already. Drawing their weapons, Matt, Tom, and Sarah turned to me. Sarah set a hand on my shoulder.

"(F/N), stay here. Stay hidden."

"What? No! I shouldn't have to, I'm a soldier just like you!"

"Do what Sarah says. We'll send Matt to check on you in a few minutes."

They left me with no time to argue, running off to join the commotion. Doing as they asked, I quickly squeezed into the small space between the wall and couch. The lights momentarily plunged the room into darkness, then lit it up in red, rinse and repeat. It gave an eerie feeling to the silent room. Realization hit me like a hammer. I was alone in here. Unarmed. And there were unknown attackers outside that could easily find me. Why the hell did they leave?! This was horror movie logic!!

The door opening and closing made me freeze. There was no way it was Matt. He would've called my name. Tord? No, his footsteps were sharper.

I held my breath as the steps slowly drew closer. My heart beat rapidly. This was it. This was the end. I was going to die here.

The couch was shoved away and I fell back from the force. I braced myself for the inevitable gunshot, but it didn't come. My eyes had been shut tight, but I chanced a peek.

Air caught in my throat. No way. No, I'm already dead and this was the afterlife.

The familiar lazy grin appeared, and a pale hand reached out to me. The purple eyes bore into me, but it was a warm feeling.

"You gonna sit there and look surprised, or you gonna take my hand, Lieutenant?"

It was real. He was here. The Gray Leader.

"Chandler!"

I couldn't stop myself. I tightly hugged the tall male, easily wrapping my arms around his slim body.

"Where have you been? What happened? Are you ok?"

He laughed a bit.

"The questions can wait. We need to get back."

A brunette popped her head into the room.

"Boss, have you found her?"

I unlatched myself from Chand and grinned at her.

"Emily, you asshole!"

She grinned back and walked over, an AK propped on her shoulder.

"I missed you too bitch. Didn't have too much fun without me, did you?".

"Never."

Chand leant down to our height. The fucking tree liked to show off his height a lot.

"Are you ladies done? Or should I get the tea and nail polish."

God I missed this. The playful banter and name calling. They really were my best friends. Though he was right. Catch up time, would be for another time.

Rushing to the door, Emily threw it open. Only to be met by a circle of guns pointed right at us. Standing at the center was Tord himself, grinning with a devilish look. Beside me, Chandler let out a low growl.

"Red."

Tord held out his hands, as if showing off a house.

"Gray Leader! You should've told me you were coming! Barely gave me time to prepare the welcome party!"

"Cut the bullshit Red. I'm only here to take my Lieutenant back home. That's it."

Laughing, Tord lit a cigar. The lights were still pulsing red, making him look even more like the devil. He blew out smoke before walking closer. Emily raised her gun.

"Actually old friend, I was merely doing you a favor when I took her."

His gaze was locked on me with each step forward. I tensed, my mind flashing back to his twist on my arm in the bathroom, his foot on my stomach in the living room, his hand around my throat in his office. Subconsciously, my fingers brushed against my neck where the bruised had been.

"After all, who would want such a pathetic little creature as a soldier? Much less a Lieutenant."

Chandler stepped forward to meet him.

"If (F/N) didn't meet my standards, she wouldn't be here. I doubt someone like you knows how to help such great potential like hers."

Tord simply stared at Chand, before a little chuckle escaped him. Then, that chuckle erupted into full laughter. It echoed down the halls, sending chills down my spine.

In a flash, his robotic hand shot out and gripped my (H/C) locks. He yanked me over to him, making me cry out in pain. Emily went to shoot, but Paul and Pat grabbed her arms. Her gun clattered to the ground as she kicked her legs in a desperate attempt to escape.

The metal fingers dug into my scalp, bringing tears to my eyes. A cold knife was pressed into my throat, enough to send a single drop of blood down my throat. Chand stiffened. Tord's grin widened.

"Now, if you don't want her to have a knife in her throat, I suggest you surrender yourself."

"Don't!"

The blade pressed harder, silencing me. Chandler's eyes moved over me, then to Emily, then back to Tord. He sighed and raised his hands. A soldier moved over and took all his weapons, then handcuffed his hands behind his back.

The knife left my neck, but the hand in my hair remained.

"Good. Shoot the girl."

I screamed as a gunshot rang out. Emily slumped over in the arms of the two men I called friends, I fresh bullet wound in her head. Chand struggled in his cuffs.

"You son of a-"

Tord snapped his fingers.

"Take him to the torture room. I'll be there shortly. And turn off those damned alarms."

The soldiers did as he ordered. I was dragged off, away from Chandler and away from Emily's lifeless body.

I couldn't even fathom the sting of my neck and hair.

The pain in my heart was far too intense.
