Before lessons had officially started again for the year, we all took the time to summarise the events that occurred over the christmas period.

Harry and ron had described, to Hermione's horror, their escapade concerning the Mirror of Erised and I had described, finally, my training to become an animagus.

"Y/N that's fascinating! It takes alot of skill to become one and someone in our year attempting it is incredible" was Hermione's reply.

Ron, on the other hand hadn't been as impressed. " 'Tsalright I suppose." It seemed that he was in a mood or maybe even jealous that I could do it.

Once school had restarted, most of my free time was spent in the library. Having finally managed to balance my homework and free time, there was more of the latter.

Trips to the library normally entailed the research required for my training, or pretending to not know the truth about Flamel.

However one incredibly wet evening something strange did occur. I was invited back to the Gryffindor common room by Harry due to some unfortunate news.

"Snape's refereeing" he said simply.

Ron almost choked on his drink, "what do you mean hes refereeing?"

I whispered to Hermione, "knight to E5".

"He's refereeing the next match."

"Don't play"
"Say you're ill"
"Pretend to break your leg"
"Really break your leg"

"Guys, there's no reserve seeker, if I back out then Gryffindor loses."

"Do you remember last time what happened?"
"Harry was almost chucked of his broom"

"Correct for once, Ron", I replied, "what do this is to stop that?"

"But Snape did it last time."

"Prove it Ron."

"Y/N what do you mean? 'Mione saw Snape casting a curse, he was doing all the things."

"No, Hermione saw those things, but a counter curse also requires them. For all we know the fire stopped the actual curser."

Just as I finished this sentence neville hobbled through the door, Hermione undid the leg locker curse and as soon as Neville had described that Malfoy had done this, I bid my farewells and went to find him.

"Why are picking fights with people who have nothing to do with it?"

"I don't know what you're on about." Malfoy drooled.

"I said those things about you and you're family, not Neville, so why Didi you curse him? Too unskilled to curse me, or too cowardly?"

"Y/N, if you really think that then I would challenge you to a duel at the stroke of midnight in the great hall."

I simply laughed at him. "I'll do you one better, I challenge you to a duel right now"

Malfoy smirked and then realised what I said. "Well, there are teachers around. You wouldn't want to get into trouble with the teachers would you."

My simply reply was "you'd cast first. Everything else would be in self defense. Back off Malfoy, you don't want this."

With that Malfoy retreated, like some sort of threatened ferret.

On my way back to the ravenclaw tower, I checked that Neville was fine.
"Yeah he's fine, by the way we found out about Nicolas Flamel." Harry described.

"Oh good, so you know that he created the philosopher's stone."

"Yeah, hold on how did you know? And for how long?"

"I figured it out after I got the letter back from my father."

"So you lied to us?"

"More like withheld the truth."

"Hermione isn't going to like that."

"Harry, dumbledore didn't want us knowing about him. So I thought I wouldn't tell you, but wouldn't stop you finding out. Look just let Neville know he should have some relief from Malfoy for a while"

With that being said I returned to my room beneath the statue and contemplated my next stages in my training. This was not going to be fun.

A/N:

Hey everyone! I know I haven't updated in a while and that's entirely on me. My bad. My aim is to get a rythm going in terms of updates and the great feedback really helps. Anyway thanks for all of that and I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
