I awoke on the dusty Tuesday due to a tapping on my  window. Assuming I wasn't fully awake I pulled the covers closer to try and muffle the irritating tap.

However as I did so, the tapping got louder as if it knew I was trying to block it out. Defeated I sat up in my bed, swinging my feet round to step on the floor and looked up. Confusion was all I could think as perched on my windowsill was an owl. I wasn't expecting any post and the daily prophet subscription had been cancelled so there was no reason why this owl was here.

A surge of happiness overcame me as I realised that there could be only one reason why this owl was here. Throwing open the window, I reached over and persuaded the owl onto my arm. There was no doubt now, the Hogwarts crest was proudly stamped on the back of the envelope.

Ripping the letter off the owl I rushed downstairs skipping the final three only to land awkwardly and curse aloud. "Y/n?" I heard my mother say from the dining room, "is that you? We weren't expecting you up so early." As I ran into the dining room my parents could see the unopened letter clutched in my hand and smiles burst onto their faces. "Well done y/n" my father exclaimed, "truth be told we were starting to believe you wouldn't get-" "Now now Luther we don't need to talk about that" Mary interrupted "he got in and that's what matters. We will head to London at the weekend in order to purchase your things. Also don't swear so loudly y/n, now where is bletchly and we shall get you your breakfast."

No sooner had the house elf's name been said a small pop was heard and he bowed deeply before enquiring what I wanted for breakfast.

The week seemed to drag on as the excitement for visiting diagon ally increased. I had been there loads before but this felt like the first time.

Despite the length of the week Saturday arrived and we headed to diagon ally. It seemed to be busier than usual but I put that down to others getting their Hogwarts letters.
The least busiest place was madam
Malkins so we decided to go in there first. As I was led to the stool my parents told me they would be getting my books. As the bell rang I assumed they were back and so asked to turn to look at the door. Once I did I noticed it was not my parents but a young brown haired girl who looked about my age. She was led over to the stool next to mine and we struck up a conversation.

"My name's Hermione Granger." She stated as if it was a line she had rehearsed. "I'm a Muggle born so this is all very new to me but I must say its very impressive."

"I'm y/n l/n. I'm a pure blood so I'm very used to this but I'm still extremely excited" I replied coolly.

"A pure blood. Oh I'm sorry to have disturbed you."

"What do you mean?" I questioned despite having a feeling I already knew the answer.

"Well I did as much research as I could and-d-d"

"Read about the pure blood prejudice" I finished for her. "Which is a bunch of dragon dung if you ask me, if it wasn't for muggles we would have died out centuries ago."

"So you really don't mind talking to me?" She questioned with still a sliver of fear in her voice.

"Of course not! I think you're quite friendly to be honest." I finished with a smile that was shared with her. I held out my hand, "friends?"

"Friends." She replied, beaming.

A/n I will be sticking closer to the storyline in the books rather than the films but may add in from the film as well. Hope you enjoy.
