Not Alone

I am finally coming out to my parents and siblings. We are having a family dinner and Cenna, Alexis and Jojo are going to be there. Adi couldn't make it, because he is going on a date with his girlfriend.

But we had just left the police station and it was kinda quiet, but it was a nice quiet.

"Don't be nervous, Dad." Alexis said as she smiled at me through the rear view mirror.

Cenna was driving and I was in the passenger seat. Jojo and Alexis were in the back.

"Thanks, but how am I supposed to tell them that I am dating Cenna and have a kid?" I asked her, laughing a little. She smiled at me.

"You can say it when we sit down to eat." Jojo said.

"Cenna can say that I am your daughter." Alexis said. "Then you say 'Speaking of which I need to tell you y'all something.' Then explain that you didn't know how they would react. Plus Anthony and Andre know,
you just have to tell your parents."

"Easier said than done." I said as we pulled into my driveway.

We got out. I walked right in with Cenna next to me and Jojo and Alexis were behind us.

"Nick! I'm so glad to see you." Mom said as she hugged me. "You haven't been home since yesterday night."

"Yeah. I went to school early." I said to cover up.

"Well come sit down. The food is done." Mom said. She turned to see Alexis. "Oh you must be Alexis."

"Yes ma'am." Alexis said with a smile and my mom hugged her.

"I have been waiting to meet you ever since Nick told me about you and the incident." Mom said.

"Please, Mom." I said. "We don't talk about the incident."

"It's ok." Alexis said. "Nice to meet you too. Nick is a great person, he has help me a lot."

"That's wonderful." Mom said.

We sat down and I looked over at Alexis and Jojo, who were sitting in front of me and Jojo. They both nodded. I grabbed Cenna's hand under the table.

"Did you know that Nick and Cenna "adopted" Alexis after the incident, Mrs. Mayorga?" Jojo asked.

"No. I didn't." Mom said. Dad looked at me. "Why didn't you tell us?"

"I never got around to it, but there is something else I want to tell y'all about." I said and took a deep breath.

"Yes?" Dad asked.

"I am gay. I have been for a while now, but I didn't know how to tell y'all." I said, quickly. "Cenna helped me realize that it is ok."

I lifted up our intertwined fingers and Mom smiled. Dad nodded.

"Finally!" Dad yelled. "I thought you would never know!"

"We always knew, honey." Mom said and I looked at her in shock. "We are your parents, Nick. We always know before you do."

"Wow. That's not how I thought it would turn out." Andre mumbled and we all laughed.

"I'm just happy that you are happy, Nick." Mom said.

"Me too." Dad said. We all smiled at each other.

After we ate, I texted Adi and told him how it went. He was happy for me. Cenna and I are going on a date tomorrow and I was so excited.
