Chapter Ten.- Arika's Triumph

Arika POV

I brushed my dark brown hair gently. I stared at myself in the mirror. I wore my best American cloths; a soft pink tank top with a white short jacket. I also wore white skinny jeans and a pair of pink toms. I frown,"I look weird!" I cried,"I look like a pink elephant!"

"No you don't," Hope said as she studied my outfit."You look beautiful darling." Hope played. 

I smiled,"Thank you darling!"  I said then grabbed my bag and ran out of Hope's bedroom. I followed her down the wooden staircase and into the kitchen. I smiled as I saw Aunt Macey's reaction.

She cupped her hand over her mouth,"You look beautiful!" she yelped. I giggled,"Thanks."

Hope quickly grabbed a piece of toast and passed one to me."Hurry we'll be late." she warned and dragged me out the door. I closed the door behind me. I caught up with Hope. We walked in silence for couple minutes."Do you think Earth is better then Cahaya?" Hope asked.

"Yeah. Especially the fact that our Step Dad isn't here."

I gasped as I saw a circular object flying toward me. I dodged it just in time for it to hit the STOP sign behind me."The freak?" I yelled.

"Sorry," a boy with messy black hair yelled back. He came to retrieve the object. "My sister and I were playing Frisbee." he pointed toward a girl with long jet black hair who was standing a couple feet away from us.

"It's okay. I'm just glad I didn't get hit!" I said. He smiled then gestured for his sister to come over. I glanced over a Amber who was standing next to me with mixed feelings. 

It's fine. I thought to her. She caught my glance then thought, No, that's okay you can walk to school with them. Then Amber smiled. She stuck out her tongue and then slowly started toward the big brick building up ahead.

"Hey, my names Collon. And this is Vanessa." he said and pointed toward the quiet girl beside him.

"Hi." I said with a smile. She just looked away. She whispered something into her brothers ear."She's shy." he translated then patted Vanessa's head.

"Well that's okay, I just don't like being ignored." I told him and he nodded agreeing."So you go to Firehill?" Collon asked.

I smiled,"Now I do. I just moving here."

"Oh, from where?"

"Um," I looked around for clues. The best things I could find was a broken pencil and a apple."I'm from Peniapplia." I said smoothly.

"Haha, Cool. We're from Miami." he said.

"Collon, we're going to be late for class." Vanessa interrupted.

"Oh right, wanna walk with us?" he asked.

"Sure." I said then followed him into the big building. Collon and his sister led me to the main office where people in suits sat at.

"Here's the main office just tell them your name and they'll tell you what to do." he instructed.

"Okay," I said with a small wave of goodbye then opened the clingy door. I looked around for the nearest adult. 

"Hello, my name is Arika Marbie and I'm new." I told them. The lady smiled then gave me a peice of paper. "This is your schedule for the year and here is your locker number." she stated.

I stared at her with a blank expression."What's a locker?"

"A locker,hun, is a place where you put you book bag when your in class." she said in an annoyed tone.

"Oh, sorry." I laughed nervously then started toward the front door.

I could see her roll her eyes as I walked out of the cramped room. I made my way toward locker number 437 and whisk fully opened it. Oh shiz! I mentally panicked. I looked around to see if anybody saw me magically opened my locker then cramped my bag inside. 

I slammed the locker door closed then began walking toward my assigned classroom. I looked at my schedule; Science.

I cheered silently then ran my way to room 149. I have always wanted to be an inventor when I grew up. (hence the fact that I made my spaceship) 

I hurried into the laboratory and headed toward the teacher. She smiled brightly then greeted me with a simple Hello. "Hi, my name is Arika Marbie and I'm new." I said my new pick up line smoothly and as casual as possible.  

"Hi Arika! Nice to meet you! My name is Mrs.Karen and I'll be your 7th grade science teacher for the year. Now tell me; Do you like science?" she asked with her hands perched on her knees.

"Yes m'am. I want to be an inventor when I grow up!" I cheered. Mrs.Karen laughed then said,"Well this is the place for you! Now your seat will be right next to Candy." she said and pointed to a red headed girl with long pigtails.

I walked over to her and took my seat. She looked up from her drawing and smiled. I swear she looked like an anime character...

"Hi! I'm Candy!" she said in a surprisingly cheerful voice.

"Um Hi, my name is Arika." I said quietly.

Candy smiled then said,"Come on silly you don't have to be so formal with me! I'm not stuck up or anything of that sort." 

I giggled,"Okay."

Yes! I cheered in my head. I had just made a new friend...
