Her First Moments (Chrom X Reader)
(Name) woke up in the middle of the night from hearing Lucina start crying from her crib. She groaned as she pulled herself out of bed carefully so she wouldn't wake Chrom up. “There there sweetheart,” she whispered quietly as she picked her up out of her crib. She cradled Lucina in her arms and rocked her gently. “Don't cry. Mommy's here.” (Name) held Lucina close as she tried to soothe her.
(Name) turned around to the sound of her husband's laughter. “You two have to be the cutest girls I've ever seen,” Chrom said with a grin on his face.
(Name)'s face turned a light shade of pink as she tried to hide her face from him. “You could've told me you were awake,” (Name) mumbled.
“I mean it,” Chrom said, pulling himself out of bed to stand by her side. “I'm lucky to have you both.” Chrom wrapped his arms around (Name), pulling her and Lucina close to him. “You two remind me that even in times of war, there's something that I have to protect. Something to come home to, and someone to love. You're really amazing, (Name).” Chrom smiled and kissed her head.
(Name) blushed deeper and hid her face in Chrom's chest. “I'm not that great, you know,” (Name) said. “I was just a regular Tactician when you fell in love with me. I haven't really changed that much.”
“You're underestimating yourself again, (Name),” Chrom said. “You've grown a lot since we first met, in many ways.” Chrom sat down on the bed with (Name) as she held onto Lucina. “You're wonderful at pretty much everything you do. I wouldn't trust the lives of my whole army with anyone other than you.”
(Name) sighed and leaned against Chrom. “I wish that I could feel the same as you do.” She rocked Lucina in her arms until she fell asleep again. “It's a lot of pressure to be a Tactician. But I know that it must be harder for you as a prince to rule an entire kingdom.”
“It is difficult,” Chrom admitted. “But it's worth it if it means getting to see the people I care about live another day.”
“Speaking of which,” (Name) said as she got up to put Lucina back in her crib. “If we're heading out tomorrow, won't we miss Lucina's first moments?” (Name) wrapped her back up in her blanket and sat back down next to Chrom. “We'll be gone for a while, and we'll be missing a few parts of her life.”
Chrom took (Name)'s hand in his own and gave it a reassuring squeeze. “Don't worry,” Chrom said. “If all goes well, we'll be able to be back home sooner than expected. Then we won't have to miss the important things.”
(Name) sighed and squeezed Chrom's hand back. “Every day is important,” (Name) said. “I just want to watch our little girl grow with you.”
“And we will,” Chrom said. He kissed her cheek and moved a few stray strands of hair out of her face. “Trust me, we'll be able to see her first moments. But for now, we need to get some rest for tomorrow. Don't worry too much, alright?”
“I'll try,” (Name) said through her yawning. Chrom laid down and pulled her down gently along with him.
“You definitely need some sleep,” Chrom said. “We both have a big day ahead of us tomorrow.”
“You're telling me,” (Name) said, snuggling into Chrom's chest. “Just stay here and sleep with me, alright?”
Chrom chuckled and ran his fingers through (Name)'s hair. “Of course I will. This is my bed too, you know.”
(Name) laughed softly and wrapped her arms around him. “Which means you have no reason to get up any time soon.”
“True enough.” Chrom smiled down at (Name) and tilted her head upwards, kissing her on the lips. (Name) kissed him back, savoring the warmth of his embrace and the tenderness of their kiss while she could. They pulled back from each other after a while, looking each other in the eye. “I love you, (Name),” Chrom said.
“I love you too,” (Name) said before finally drifting off to sleep.
Chrom smiled softly and kissed her head again. “Sleep well.” He draped the bedsheets over both of them and held (Name) securely in his arms before drifting to sleep as well.

Chrom walked out to the barracks the next morning with (Name) by his side, carrying Lucina with her. “Is everyone prepared for the journey, Frederick?” Chrom asked.
“Just about, milord,” Frederick said. “Once Vaike stops misplacing his axe, we'll all be ready to head out.” Frederick picked up Falchion and held it out to Chrom. “Don't forget your sword too.”
“Thank you, Frederick,” Chrom said, taking Falchion from him and sheathing it. “Gather everyone in the square. We'll move out as soon as (Name) and I leave Lucina with a caretaker.”
“Yes sir,” Frederick said. He got all of his things together and headed outside to get everyone else together.
As soon as Frederick left, (Name) and Chrom went back into the palace to find Lucina's babysitter. (Name) sighed and looked down at Lucina, who was looking back at her. “I'm going to miss you, sweetheart,” (Name) said.
“So will I,” Chrom said, stroking Lucina's head softly and earning a small smile out of her. “But we'll return soon. Soon enough to watch you grow into a beautiful young girl.”
(Name) couldn't help but smile from watching both of them, the loves of her life. If only she could spend more quality time with them, although she knew that times of war couldn't be avoided to do so. (Name) handed Lucina over to her babysitter, who held her with great care and caution.
“There's no need to worry, Your Highness,” the maiden said. “I'll take very good care of her while you're away.”
“Thank you,” (Name) said, bending down to kiss Lucina's head one last time. “You be good for her, okay?” Lucina let out a small giggle in response, making (Name) feel as though her heart would burst with joy. “Daddy and I love you, Lucina. Never forget that.” Lucina cooed and held onto (Name)'s finger, as if she didn't want to let go.
Chrom rested a hand on (Name)'s shoulder and squeezed it lightly. “Are you ready to go?”
(Name) let out a deep breath and sighed. “As ready as I'll ever be,” (Name) said. She hesitantly took her finger out of Lucina's hand and walked away with Chrom, hand in hand.
“She'll be just fine,” Chrom said reassuringly. “She's in good hands. She's safe here.”
(Name) looked up and him and gave him the most positive smile she could muster. “I know she will. Just as I know that we're all safe with you.”
Chrom smiled softly and kissed (Name)'s hand, taking in a deep breath of air and starting to brace himself for whatever the next few days had in store for him, knowing that everything would be okay as long as he had (Name) by his side.
