She's alive.

She didn't die.

The realization hit you like a physical blow. Your breath caught in your throat, your pulse thundering in your ears.

"I'm so sorry," you heard her say. "Seriously, you didn't deserve that."

Emily's voice trembled, cracking just enough for you to know it was real. She turned toward Morgan, hugging him, and he hesitated only a second before wrapping his arms around her.

"Y/N," she said softly, eyes full of something between guilt and relief. "I'm so sorry. I truly am."

You couldn't breathe. Couldn't think. You stood abruptly, brushing past JJ and Hotch before anyone could say a word. Your feet moved on instinct, carrying you down the hall until you reached the bathroom. You shoved open the door, slammed it shut behind you, and slid down the wall, the sob you'd been swallowing finally tearing free.

It wasn't pretty or controlled. It was raw, a sound that had been locked in your chest since the day she died.

You pulled your knees to your chest and let yourself fall apart.

A knock sounded gently on the door.

"Go away, Emily," you croaked, not even looking up.

A soft chuckle came in response. "It's JJ."

You let out a shaky exhale as the door opened. She stepped inside, closing it quietly behind her, and sat down beside you.

"JJ, I'm not mad at you," you said hoarsely. "Or Emily. Or Hotch. I'm just—frustrated. I'm so damn frustrated that Doyle forced her into hiding for months. I just... I wish I could've known she was alive. Just known."

JJ reached for your hand, her fingers warm against your cold ones. "I understand," she said gently. "You have to understand, too. Emily hated the idea. She fought it. But she knew none of us would be safe if she didn't go through with it. And right now..." JJ's voice faltered, eyes shining. "Right now, she's sobbing in Reid's arms because she thinks you hate her."

You lifted your head slowly, tears still slipping down your cheeks. "For real?"

JJ nodded.

You shook your head. "I could never hate her. She did what she did for us—for Declan. We have to find him."

You wiped your face roughly and stood, determination replacing the exhaustion. "Let's find Declan. Emily and I can talk later."

When you walked back into the bullpen, the air was thick with tension. Everyone was watching you.

"Prentiss," Hotch said, voice even. "Go talk to Doyle. Get a list of all his female known associates—we think Declan's mother was involved."

Emily nodded. "Y/N, come with me?"
