"Can someone please write a fic about Emily Prentiss x fem reader where they are secretly dating for a while but Emily isn't comfortable with people knowing she's gay and they fight about it because the reader just wants to be able to show off her girl to the world and show how much she loves her and they end up breaking up. Then about a month later at a team outing at a bar Emily walks in holding hands with JJ and they announce they are dating."

Emily Prentiss had always been made of iron, sarcasm, grit, and a lifetime of burying parts of herself that hurt to look at. Her confidence was selective: flawless in the field, unshakeable in front of a suspect, and brittle at the mention of her sexuality.
Around everyone else, she was a fortress. Around you, she was a fortress filled with landmines.
You were the opposite: careless with honesty, fearless with your own identity. When you loved, you did it loudly, boldly, unapologetically.
And that terrified Emily more than any unsub ever could.
Six months together, and you had spent most of that time living in the quiet shadow of her fear.
Every morning followed the same choking pattern: wake up wrapped around each other like you belonged there; shower together with hands that said I love you but a silence that said don't you dare ask for more; then watch her walk into the BAU ten minutes before you, shoulders squared, mask in place.
You sat in the car waiting out the timer she created, ten minutes to erase you from her skin.
Some days you swore you could still smell her perfume on your clothes as you walked in. Some days it felt like evidence of a crime.
And all the while, you kept the secret for her. All the stolen kisses in closets. All the quick touches hidden in shadows. All the times she grabbed your wrist and whispered "not here."
You were in love. You were also slowly dying from it.
"Good morning, Emily. Spencer. Morgan."
You said it like normal, but you caught the flicker of tension in Emily's shoulders. She didn't look at you, didn't even risk it.
After an hour, Morgan got bored, of course he did.
"Hey, Y/N," he grinned. "You seeing anyone? My sister's still single. I'd pay you to take her off my hands."
You laughed because your alternative was screaming.
"You know, Morgan, that doesn't sound like the worst idea..."
Your phone buzzed immediately.
What the fuck?
You stared at the screen. Heat rose in your chest, not embarrassment, but something darker. Something sharp.
