Reader's POV

When you were growing up, you know how your mom always told you to bring a jacket just in case? Yeah well, apparently I didn't learn anything. Because I am currently freezing my ass off in the middle of this fancy-ass neighborhood, my breath coming out in tiny white clouds, because Derek sent me the wrong address and won't pick up his damn phone.

I stomp my boots against the pavement and mutter into the dark, "I swear to God, if this man's GPS has me outside some random stranger's mansion, I'm disowning him." I start heading back toward my car, my fingers already numb, when my phone buzzes. Derek's name flashes across the screen.

"Derek Morgan, I am going to—"

"Whoa, sis, calm down. Turn around," he interrupts, smug as ever.

I roll my eyes and spin on my heel. "If you're not standing behind me right now, I'm blocking your number—"

"There ya go," he says, and sure enough, he's standing in a well-lit yard, grin wide, arms open like he didn't just have me wandering around the suburbs half-frozen.

I hang up and march over to him, and before I can yell, he pulls me into one of his signature bear hugs, warm and solid. "How's my only single sister doing?"

I shove his shoulder. "Shut up! I didn't have time, you know, becoming one of the best security analysts in the country and all."

He laughs, slinging an arm around me as we walk toward the house. "Yeah, yeah, Miss Big Shot Navy Analyst. Don't think that means you're too good for me."

The door opens to what might honestly be the nicest house I've ever set foot in. The smell of garlic and something sweet hits me instantly. Derek leads me toward the kitchen, the low hum of laughter and music growing louder.

"Everyone, this is Y/N, my youngest sister," he announces proudly.

I give a small wave as heads turn. "Hi."

Derek starts pointing people out like a tour guide. "You've already met Garcia at the awards — that's JJ and her husband Will, Rossi, Hotch, Spencer, and Emily."

When my gaze lands on Emily Prentiss, something tightens in my chest. Her smile is polite, but her eyes, there's something curious, almost soft there. She looks like she's sizing me up and memorizing me at the same time.

Garcia, never one to let subtlety live long, shoots her a knowing wink.

Emily clears her throat, "Why did I have no idea you had another sister?"

I laugh, stepping up beside her at the counter. "Probably because every time you're in Chicago, I'm either buried at work, in school, or on assignment."

"Assignment?" she asks, her brows lifting. "You're an agent?"

I shake my head with a small smile. "No, security analyst for the Navy. But I'm hoping to move over to Homeland. I had my interview this morning, so fingers crossed."
