Kalila was awoken by his chambermaids as they pulled back the sheer curtains of his large window which was facing one of his father's vineyards. ¨ Good morning Kalila. ¨  the sound of his close friend Danae's voice made him smile ¨ Good morning Danae. ¨ Kaila sat up and rubbed the sleep from his eyes before looking at his friends. ¨ Master Horus would like for you to come to the Andron in an hour for a meeting. ¨ Kalila's expression changed quickly " An hour? Danae why didn't you wake me up sooner? I don't have time to bathe now and we both know how Father is about Hygiene! ¨ Danae placed her hand on Kalila's cheek and sighed ¨ Because we both know how you are about getting your beauty sleep. ¨ one of the chambermaids laughed bringing Kalila and Danae's attention to the rest of the servants in the room. ¨ Oh you're still here, You're dismissed ¨ The servants exited his chambers so Kalila and Danae could continue their conversation. Danae pulled Kailia up and walked him downstairs to the bathroom of the house. ¨ I wonder if the servants think you fancy me. ¨ Danae looked at Kalila and shook her head ¨ Why would the fairest in all of Greece fancy me a lowly servant girl? ¨ Kalila stopped her and looked her in the eyes ¨ Because Danae we spend all of my free time together and have been friends since birth, and you're forgetting my mother is also a servant. ¨ They arrived at the bathroom and started the second half of Kalila's daily beauty routine by brushing his curly locks of black hair. ¨ Danae what do you like most about me? ¨ Danae studied Kalilas face for a few moments before smiling and responding ¨ The way your skin is perfectly smooth but yet has a touch of sunburn and how your eyes are two different colors. ¨ She picked up one of the mirrors gifted to him and showed him so he could see what she was describing  ¨ One a light green that looks so feline and the other the same blue as the flowers roaming the fields. ¨ they locked eyes before Danae kissed his cheek ¨ good luck with your father ¨ Kalila turned around and watch Danae exit the Bathroom he quickly stood up and rushed to the door to find the hallway empty. Remembering his Father wanted to see him for something important he quickly rushed to the other side of his home and knocked on the door of the Andron. The door was opened by two of his Fathers personal servants ¨ Hello Ines and Rea. ¨ His attention was quickly brought to his Father and the other man in the room ¨ Good morning Father and? Lord Kyros! ¨ the two men looked up and smiled at Kalila ¨ Sit down boy, Rea bring my son a cup of Wine. ¨ Rea nodded her head and filled a small Kylix with freshly aged wine she handed it to Kalila ¨ Thank you Rea ¨ He took a sip before facing his Father and Lord Kyros ¨ So Kalila tell me about yourself. ¨ Kalila looked at his father who nodded and then back at Lord Kyros ¨ Well sir I enjoy walking through my Fathers many vineyards, sitting by the ocean enjoying the sound and smell of the waves, Attending the parties you throw,  Painting, and I love going to the festivals our wonderful town has. Kyros smiled and took a sip of his wine ¨You sure are interesting and very beautiful. ¨ Horus placed his hand on Kalila's thigh ¨ Do you know why I've called you here today Kalila? ¨ He thought for a moment before shaking his head then answered his father ¨ I do not Father but I'm guessing it is because you want me to socialize with more people in our social circle? ¨ Horus placed down his Kylix and chuckled ¨ Yes boy it's because of that, but Lord Kyros has brought to my attention that you are not currently courting or being courted by anyone and has asked me for my permission to court you, so what do you say? ¨ Kalila looked at Lord Kyros in shock then back at his father before turning his attention back to Kyros¨ Lord Kyros you want to court me? Why me when there are so many other beautiful people in our town? ¨ Kyros chuckled placing his large hands on Kalila's tiny hands and looked him in the eyes¨ Because it's obvious that Aphrodite favors you and everyone in this town and our surrounding towns know it. ¨ Kalila smiled weakly and looked at Kyros ¨, Of course, I'd like to be courted by you, Lord Kyros. ¨ Kyros smiled and nodded his head toward Horus ¨How wonderful! I'll send for you soon so we may start our courtship. ¨ Horus dismissed Kalila from the Andron, Kalila searched the House for Danae and his Mother finding both of them outside the Patio overlooking the Ocean. ¨ I have news very big news. ¨ Danae and Irenaeus turned around and saw the worried look on Kalila's face. ¨ What's the matter, Kalila? ¨ Irenaeus placed her hand on her son's cheek and sat him down ¨ Father requested that I meet with him today and I just left the Andron but while I was there Lord Kyros was visiting and everything was normal but then Father told me that Lord Kyros had requested to court me. ¨ Danae and Irenaeus shared a look of shock ¨ Lord Kyros wants to court you? Did he say why? ¨ Kalila shook his head and then looked at his Mother with tears forming in his eyes ¨ I don't want to be another Pawn in Father's game. ¨ Irenaeus stroked his cheek ¨ Kalila you won't be a pawn in his game, I'm sure Lord Kyros fancies you and your father saw this as a good idea because Lord Kyros is the head of the town and he's the richest man in our town. ¨ Danae shook her head in agreement with Irenaeus before using part of her dress to dry Kalila's tears. ¨ If you really want help that we can't give you pray to the gods for guidance especially Hera. ¨ Kalila stood up and kissed his mother's forehead ¨ Thank you for your advice I'm going to go grab something from the kitchen before laying down for a bit. ¨ Danae and Irenaeus nodded their heads and watched him enter the house before turning their attention back to the task they had started before Kalila arrived. He walked through the mostly empty house till he arrived at the kitchen which was full of servants making food and pouring wine he snatched some grapes and a slice of bread before heading back to his bedroom. He sat down by his window eating the food he had grabbed ¨ I guess it's normal to be courted by somebody older than you  I just expected it to be somebody closer to my age and of my choosing. ¨ He popped a grape in his mouth before looking out at the Vineyards ¨ Lord Kyros is a very well respected man and it would make me wealthier. ¨ He sighed not caring about the wealth he just wanted to fall in love with somebody. He stood up and grabbed a cloak that was laying on the edge of his bed ¨ Since I'm not needed here I could go into town and stop at the market and at the Temple. ¨ He put his cloak on and grabbed a sack of drachma's before skipping down the steps and outside he walked over to the stables and looked for the stablehand ¨ Excuse me? Sirius could you get one of the horses ready for me I'm traveling into to by myself and I need one. ¨ Sirius nodded his head and got one of the Horses ready for travel ¨ Does your father know you're leaving sir? ¨ Kalila shook his head and took the horse from Sirius ¨ I believe he's still talking to Lord Kyros. ¨ Kalila mounted the horse and then looked down at Sirius ¨ Thank you ¨ The two smiled at each other before Kalila rode off towards the town. He arrived quickly due to the town only being a few miles, he dismounted the horse and patted it on the nose ¨ Thank you for you're service.¨ He handed the reins to one of the towns servants and paid him a few drachmae before walking to the busy market smiling and waving at his friends stopping every so often to talk to them while shopping, After he finished shopping he walked up to the Temple and entered it wandering down the halls till he found a statue of Hera he kneeled down before it placing his offerings of flowers, fruits, Honey, and some Pomegranate seeds. He burned some incense and light some candles before praying to Hera for advice on his courtship with Lord Kyros. After he was done praying to Hera he exited the temple and thanked the servant and handed them a few more drachma's and then mounted the horse and riding home. Once he had arrived home and returned the horse he walked inside giving out the gifts he had bought at the market to his mother and Danae along with a few other servants. He wandered around looking for his Father to find him in the Vineyard talking to some of the field workers ¨ Father! I have a gift for you. ¨Horus turned around and smiled ¨ Thank you Kalila please set it down in the Andron. ¨ He nodded his head and left his father outside with the field workers. ¨ What a very odd day this was. ¨ After leaving the gift in the Andron he walked to the bathroom hoping it was empty so he could bathe himself, he walked into the empty bathroom and smiled he undressed quickly and slid into the lukewarm waters he walked over to shelves above the bath and grabbed some oils and perfumes he set them down and washed his hair and body he rubbed oils into his skin and then got out of the bath so he could spray the perfumes onto his skin after he was finished he walked out to the bathrooms patio so he could dry off in the sun, He laid down on the warm patio and closed his eyes breathing in the smells around him. ¨ I'm gonna miss this. ¨ He sat up and looked around him taking in the scenery of his surroundings. He breathed in smelling the Ocean, the vineyards, the flowers surrounding him, and Honey " Lord Kyros's house smells so differently. ¨ Kalila frowned thinking about Kyros's big house which only smelled of wine and whatever food that was being served at his Feast. ¨ I don't think I could get used to that. ¨ After fully drying he picked up a brush and started to brush his still-damp hair. ¨ You look Lovely. ¨ Kalila jumped at the sound of another voice in the room he turned his head and saw a boy who appeared close to his age ¨ Who are you? ¨ the boy shook his head ¨ Don't worry about it I'm only visiting. ¨ He sat down next to Kalila and stared into his eyes Kalila unsure of what to do placed his hand down next to him and stared back into the boy's beautiful brown eyes. ¨ I'm Kalila. ¨ The boy smirked and placed his hand on top of Kalila's ¨ I know that. ¨ Kalila's face started heating up and his cheeks flustered ¨ Why can't I know your name? ¨  The beautiful brown-eyed boy moved his face closer to Kalila's ¨ You will in time. ¨ Their faces were so close they could feel the heat radiating off of it, Kalila counted the perfect imperfections on the boys face. They leaned in closer and were moments away from kissing but were interrupted by a door opening behind them. ¨ Kalila are you in here? ¨ He turned around and looked at Danae who had entered the room then back to the boy who wasn't next to him anymore. Kalila looked around and it was like the boy had vanished ¨ Danae did you see anybody in here when you walked in? ¨Danae shook her head and raised an eyebrow ¨ No why do you ask? ¨ He stood up and walked over to her ¨ No reason. ¨
