Daughter: Book 2 (Peter Parker x reader)

Chapter 6

It's been about 3 weeks since it happened. We lost. Tony is no where to be seen. Pepper thinks he's dead but me. I'm not sure. I've been hanging out with Pepper a lot. I somewhat cling to her now. I'm not sure why. Maybe cause she's the closest I have to a actual mom 

I'm sitting in the living room when all of a sudden the ground starts to shake. I get up and start to make my way outside when I run into Steve 

"What the hell was that?" I asks him. Nat, Bruce, and Rhodes join us as we jog to where Pepper is standing outside. We see a spacecraft landing. I stand by Pepper while Steve runs up  as the entry hatch opens up revealing Tony and I think her name is Nebula. Steve helps Tony stand up as Tony grips his arm

" Couldn't stop him"  Tony says 

"Neither could I" Steve responds

"I lost the kid" I knew he was talking about Peter

"Tony, we lost"

"Is, uh...?" Tony starts to say just as Pepper walks up to him 

" Oh, my God! Oh, my God!" Pepper exclaims as she and Tony hug each other

He opens his eyes to see me. He sighs in relief when he does. Pepper lets go of him and I hug him 

"It's okay" he says and I start to cry. I let go of him and Pepper and Steve lead him into the compound

We made our way into the living room. Tony is sitting at a table getting blood for healing.  A holographic casualty report lists the names and faces of those lost to the Decimation

"It's been 23 days since Thanos came to Earth" Rhodes says 

" World governments are in pieces. The parts that are still working are trying to take a census. And it looks like he did... he did exactly what he said he was gonna do. Thanos wiped out fifty percent, of all living creatures" Nat explains 

"Where is he now? Where?" Tony asks 

"We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through" Steve says 

I space out for a little while. Thinking about ways I could have helped. Ways I could have saved everyone

"Who told you that? I didn't fight him. No, he wiped my face with a planet while the Bleecker Street Magician gave away the store. That's what happened. There was no fight" Tony says catching my attention

"Okay" Steve says 

"He's unbeatable"

"Did he give you any clues, any coordinates, anything?"

" Pfft! I saw this coming a few years back. I had a vision. I didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming. Till this one over here" Tony pointed to me "Started getting visions as well. But they were right. She just didn't want to tell me that this was actually going to happen"

"Tony, I'm gonna need you to focus" Steve says 

"And I needed you. As in past tense. That trumps what you need. It's too late buddy. Sorry. You know what I need?" Tony stands and pushes stuff off the table. We all wince at the noise " I need to shave. And I believe I remember telling all youse- "

Tony goes for Steve. Rhodey quickly comes in front of him, trying to stop him

" Alive and otherwise what we needed was a suit of armor around the world! Remember that? Whether it impacted our precious freedoms or not- that's what we needed!"

"Well, that didn't work out, did it?" Steve asked 

"I said, "we'd lose". You said, "We'll do that together too." And guess what, Cap? We lost. And you weren't there. But that's what we do, right? Our best work after the fact? We're the Avengers, we're the Avengers. Not the Prevengers"
