Agnes's P.O.V.

Pain coursed through my body. Scratches up and down my arm bleeding. I was so hot, I felt like I was on fire, yet weightless like I was when I fell into the water with that mermaid. Mermaid. I heard her song again. Sweet and sad. Loud. Ringing in my ears. I curled up into a ball, my hands plastered against my ears.

"Alan please," I cried. Waves of tears flooded my ears. The song still enveloped me. Through my hands, through my ears and resonated in my head. Sobbing, I continued calling out for Alan. "Please, please Alan, make it stop. It hurts. I can't Take it."

Alan's P.O.V.

I paced back and forth in front of my door hearing Pearl's thrashing and cries for me. The crew had surrounded me and was trying to figure out what was happening. Thomas was trying to keep them pushed back, and under control.

"Sir you're gonna burn a hole through the floor with all that pacin," Thomas said to me.

"Well I don't bloody well know what what else to do!" I shouted. His gaze went to the floor, "Sorry Sir... I just was tryin to 'elp."

Looking around at the crew I noticed how they avoided my gaze. Maybe I had been to harsh. I wasn't about to apologize though. After all am the Captain of this ship. I heard Doc call for me through the door and quickly escaped back into my room. She was still in the bed, eyes closed, pale skin glossed with sweat from the fever. Pieces of hair clung to her face and neck.

"I've stalled the affect of the poison, but it won't last long Wes. A day maybe two is all we've got," Doc said dabbing sweat of Pearl's forehead. "I'm afraid we are gonna have to do what I didn't want to."

"We have to stop at Imperia Port," and with that I rushed out to give the men my orders.

(Alan's P.O.V. continued)

Trying to make a pirate ship look innocent was a lot harder than one might believe. Luckily after so many years of being at sea we had gotten it down to a science. Catching some fish to sell in the market and changing our clothes was really all we had to do. We had acquired stuffier clothing for some raids on other ships. We didn't have much use for them. They weren't practical for work on a ship. They were usually on used when we were trying to appear higher class. With the nicer outfits on I set out with Doc to find some antidote for Pearl. We walked down the cobblestoned streets and finally found an apothecary.

"Good day to yah gents. What can I do you for?" The man behind the counter smiled at us as we walked in.

"We need an antidote sir, we have a girl on our ship who's terribly sick." Doc stepped forward and talked to the man. It was probably best he spoke rather than me anyways.

"What does she ail from?"

"She was poisoned."

"Well that's no good," the man said and started rummaging through the the many bottles on the shelves behind him. "But unless I know what from I'm afraid I can't help you."

"Underwater poison."

"Underwater poison! Nasty stuff. Who'd want this girl killed that bad. That stuffs expensive to get yer hands on and even more of a pain in the neck to work with."

"Do you have the antidote or not!" I snapped. The thought of Pearl sick and in bed close to death was painted in my mind.

"Keep yer trousers on boy, I have the stuff. But as I've said. This stuff is hard to work with and extremely hard to get. So you can imagine how expensive the antidote is."

"We'll pay it. How much?"

"100 gold"

"100 gold! That's ridiculous!" Doc says and looked at me with wide eyes.

I untie my coin pouch from my belt and throw it into the medicine mans counter.

"There's 200. Work fast."
