Fear/Paranoia's POV
The look of shock and horror that past over their faces was priceless. I had to concentrate all my will power not to burst out laughing right then and there. Morality was the first to snap back into reality."Um. P-Paranoia was it. H-how has your first night been?" He asked, stuttering over my name.
I felt my disgust rear up. Was he afraid of me already? Was he afraid of a fucking name. Barely keeping my cool, I replied. "Eh, it was alright. A little lonely, though." I saw something flash in his eyes. I guessed that he had entered 'dad mode'. That's what we used to call it when he got all protective. Of course he never went into 'dad mode' in order to help us.
"Of course it was, kiddo. I'm sorry we were all asleep. If we had-" He had a started to walk towards me as he talked, but was held back by Logic. I turned my 'board' gaze towards him as he spoke.
"I'm sorry, but before we come the the conclusion of trusting you I must ask. Are you a Dark Side?" He said, still holding Morality by the arm.
I felt my anger blaze when he asked that. Dark Side I thought. That was the stupid nickname that they had given to us. We weren't dark! All I wanted to do right then was break them. I wanted to make them cry and scream and kneel before me. But that would ruin my plan. So, instead I collected all my negative emotions and added them to the ever growing ball of hatred in my chest. When that was done (the whole ordeal taking less than a second) I gritted my teeth and forced out a question. "What exactly makes a side 'dark'?"
Logic looked at me strangely, as if sending my inner struggle. Then he shook it off and answered my question. "Well the Dark Sides, were sides who were nothing but a detriment to Thomas. You do understand who Thomas is, correct?" He looked over at me in a condescending way, and I just nodded. "Good. Well they were harming Thomas and needed to be sent away for everyone's sake. They currently reside in what can be referred to as 'jail'."
Logic had just finished talking when Creativity added his input. "They were the villains, and we, the heroes, had to get rid of them. So, if your a Dark Side, the same fate will come to you."
Villains. Villains. Villains. Villains! The word resonates inside my skull. Deep, deep, down I had hoped that they had seen what they did wrong. I had hoped that the Light Sides felt bad, and that they had been trying to let us out. But now I know those were the foolish hopes of the person I used to be. The person who had died inside the void. I'm going to do everything i could do to take my revenge. And these Light Sides won't know what hit them.
Patton's POV
"I don't think I'm a Dark Side." Paranoia whispered, looking down at his feet. He lifted he head and stared at each of us in turn. "Or even I am, I don't want to be dark."My heart broke at those two sentences. The Dark Sides has never said anything like that, so maybe Paranoia really is different.
"That's not enough, emo." Roman said. I frowned at him, but then I noticed the look he was getting from Paranoia. He looked like he was ready to attack Roman. I felt myself become more wary of this new side.
"Yes" Logan agreed. "We need to know that you won't harm Thomas or us in anyway."
Paranoia shook the dark glare of his face and quietly replied. "How about I change my name. I'll go by, um, Anxiety. That's lighter than Paranoia. And i will try as hard as I can to give him the perfect amount of anxiety. He won't become paranoid, I promise.
Logan looked at him, then pulled Roman and I into another hallway so we could talk in private. "We'll be right back. Just stay right there, ok kiddo." I called before we rounded to corner.
Roman's POV
"I don't like him. I stated as soon as Paranoia was out of sight. We're obviously not going to let him join us, he's clearly a Dark Side."Maybe we don't have to like him, but can't we al least let him stay." Patton pleads. "I mean he doesn't seem like the others. He said we wants to change."
"Patton. He is clearly a villain. We can't let him stay." I said, shocked that Patton was even considering the option of letting Paranoia stay.
"Well, I'm not so sure about that." Logan put in. I stared at him, dumbfounded. "I mean, based on the information I gathered from the Dark Sides, Paranoia does indeed seem to be different. He admitted that he might be a Dark Side and said he is willing to change, both things the others never did."
Oh my stars! They were actually considering letting that emo nightmare live with us. "No! You guys, we are the heroes. He is a villain. We fight villains."
"Oh come on, Roman. Can't we just give him a chance?" Patton said, putting on his big puppy dog eyes.
"Yes, it would not be very fair to sentence him to the back of Thomas's mind without giving his a proper trial." Logan agreed.
"Fine." I said, pouting. "But if he's lying, don't come crying. Roman knows best." (Tangled reference).
We walk back around the corner and find Paranoia patiently waiting for us. Logan starts to talk. "Paranoia, from this point forward you shall be on a trial run. You will change you name to Anxiety and stay in the room next to Morality. If you harm Thomas or us, you will be sentenced to the back of Thomas's mind. From now on you are no longer a Dark Side, but you are not yet a Light Side." With that said he walked away in the direction of the Control Room.
"Come on, kiddo." Patton said, bouncing over to Anxiety's side. He tried to grab Anxiety's arm, but just as he was about to Anxiety flinched away. Patton looked hurt, which made me angry. Anxiety was already hurting our family dynamic.
Pissed, I left the two. I know that I can't ruin his chance of staying, that wouldn't be a very princely thing to do. But that doesn't mean I have to acknowledge his existence.
Patton's POV
I watched Roman leave. He didn't look very happy, but I'll deal with that later. Right now I have to get Anxiety settled in. I tried for a second time to grab his arm, but he flinched again. I felt really bad, I didn't want to scare this new side. Then I got an idea."Anxiety." I said. He turned to me. "How about I show you your room." He nodded and followed me down the hall. Next to my room I conjured a new door and opened it. We walked inside.
Once we had both came through the door I turned to him. "You can design this place however you please. Once your done, I'll give you a tour and then we can introduce you to Thomas." I started to leave, but right when I got to the door I turned and said "Oh, and my actual name is Patton." Then I left him to decorate.
