Jennings Coven

Ava followed Veronica and Zoe to the basement, stopping at a red door. The door had a clock with a large face on it.

"Don't come in without us." Zoe said to Ava. "This room contains so much magic that it would be physically and mentally impossible to be here." Veronica said "Now, don't ever come here without one of us. At least for now before you have much more control and free will with your magic." She warned Ava.

"There is a magic school where witches are taught how to use and control their magic. Witches are usually admitted at the age of seven. For us, with the family curse, we can't go to school since our magic is locked. And none of us wanted to go when we turned nine. So our mothers and grandmother taught us."

"Through this door, is a place that the family created and every coven has this place in their home. Now step back first." Veronica warned.

She opened the door and warm sunlight gushed in. Ava couldn't believe her eyes. The door opened to show a large blue lake, a forest with trees so green and mountains.

"Come on in" Zoe gestured for Ava to follow in.

"This place is where we all practiced and studied magic. It would not affect the outside world and would reset itself when we leave this place to go back into our home. It has no meaning of time and space. Time in the outside world means nothing and there are vast amounts of space in here. You can travel deep into the forest and deep into the lake till no end." Veronica said.

"So your first lesson begins. All magic comes from within. You need to believe in your magic and in your spells and concentrate on the act of doing it."

"It would be hard at first to get that drive and motivation for you to make your first spell. After that, it would be much easier."

"Concentrate on the lake. Close your eyes if you have to. Think about what is in that lake. Fishes, sticks, stones, plants, water. Now separate the fishes from all the items in the lake. Now pick out one fish from the lake. Pull that fish out of the lake. Stretch your hand out to catch it."

Ava closed her eyes and concentrated. Reaching out her hand, she grabbed. Instead of a fish, she grabbed thin air.

"Let's try that again. The first time isn't easy"

"Now, see the fish in your mind. Clearly see the image of the fish. Every detail. Its fins, its scales, the size of the fish, the feeling when you touch that fish. Pull it out from the lake and imagine the transformation of when the fish is out of the lake. Now grab it."

Ava grabbed it again. Into thin air.

"Let's do that again."

After hundreds of tries, Ava still could not get the fish.

Throwing her hands up, she said "I'm a bad witch. I can't get a fish out of the lake."

"The first time takes time and is very difficult. Let's try that again."

For the thousandth time, come out fish. She pulled the fish out and grabbed onto it.

Her hands touched something slimy. A flopping fish flapped in her hands.

"I caught it!"

"That's great Ava!"

"Okay, enough practice, let's head back"

"But I want to try more. I was just getting started."

"You've already been at it for hours. You need rest. Come one. We'll do it again tomorrow."

They stepped out of the room and Veronica closed the door.

The clock on the door showed six hours. Two seconds later, it changed back to zero.
