Ravendale

Knock. Knock.

Alec turned at the sound on his door. His mother stood at the doorway.

His mother came into the room and sat on the edge of his bed, "Honey, I heard from your father about your girlfriend."

His head throbbed at the mention.

"Here." His mother held out her hand. In her hand was a dark gray stone with a pattern of various stars carved on it. It wasn't a completely smooth stone, there were missing pieces of the stone. The stone shone a black and gold glow in her hand.

"Mom," he said in disbelief at the stone in her hand.

"It's just a fragment of the Knit Stone. But it should be enough to see a part of her bloodline. You won't need her blood for this. Bringing it close to her should do the trick."

Alec was at loss for words. He knew that this fragment should be in the vault, kept with the other treasures and weapons. "If Dad knew that you took it and gave it to me, he would definitely be mad."

"You leave your Dad to me. He will definitely find out, probably tomorrow. So act fast. I'll delay him until you get back home. Now, take it. It's already right in front of you, might as well use it then."

"You're the best Mom." Alec hugged his Mom tightly. She was always there for him.

The next day

Jennings Coven

Veronica appeared beside Ava. She had spent the rest of the night in the museum, her mother's things were spread across the floor, surrounding her. Veronica sighed at the sight. Hopefully she won't be like Chloe. She cast a spell to relieve Ava's fatigue and soreness, then teleported them and the things back to Ava's room.

Appearing in Ava's room, Veronica woke Ava up. "Ava, time for school."

Opening her sleepy eyes, she nodded and walked to the bathroom in a zombie state.

After freshening up, Ava changed her clothes and went downstairs.

"Ava, do you want any breakfast?" Zoe shouted from the kitchen.

"Sure" Ava shouted back before walking to the kitchen. Only Veronica and Zoe were there.

"Take a seat, grab anything you want. We don't usually prepare breakfast like this, so I just conjured things I thought you might want to eat." Zoe fussed like a mother hen as Ava took her seat. "The rest of them usually sleep in until late afternoon because most of them work nights at the club. We need to discuss a few things with you. You can eat and listen to us at the same time. By the way, you may want to text your friend to pick you up? You don't own a car yet and we don't drive. Unless you want one of us to teleport you to school today?"

"Nope, Pria can take me there." Ava texted Pria and received a reply immediately. She continued devouring her muffin.

"We need to discuss arrangements. Do you want to move in?" Zoe started.

Ava almost choked on her muffin at the sudden question "I'm not sure about that. I have to tell Grandma Moore about finding you guys."

"Why not, today you can talk to your Grandma Moore first. Explain things, but no mention of the magic world," Zoe stated.

"After school you can come over or we can pick you up and start your lessons." Veronica sipped her coffee.

"Okay."

"Ava, sooner or later, you'll have to move in with us," Veronica said.

Zoe quickly added "Your magic isn't as stable right now, we can help. You can spend more time with us. And witches tend to live longer than humans, like hundreds of years longer."
