Fabien was walking through the halls in a daze with his hand on the back of his neck. He yawned and stretched his limbs from all the sitting sessions he had in class. Max was surely still waiting for him. He took his phone out to message him and looked at his display with a dissatisfied face. I am not in the mood to meet the teacher now... "I wish I just can go home.. . .", he said to himself as he looked at the text message he got from his French Professor.
Fabien was about to turn around to go to the other direction of the building but he saw something sinister in the hallway. He saw a silhouette at the end of the corridor, just right next to the staircase with a person leaning right next to it. Their build was muscular and he was extremely tall too. It was a male. But their hair was extremely long. Fabien instantly turned around to hide behind the edge of the wall. He slightly ducked out with his head to have proper sight of the familiar stranger.
"Why is he still here?", he asked himself, staring at him suspiciously. It was Lucian who seemed to be waiting for someone as he folded his arms. The blonde boy closed his eyes with his head slightly tilted down as he leaned against the wall. His pale face turned to a slight frown like a cat waiting slowly for his prey to come out.
"Come out now.", Lucian suddenly exclaimed. Fabien instantly hid behind the wall with a confused face as his heart's pace started to rise. D- did he see me??
Luckily Fabien hesitated before showing himself...
"I'm sorry. I will make sure that I will arrive on time next time. The school has been... Messy. ", another voice said. Fabien couldn't help but widen his eyes in shock... The voice was too familiar. So soft... So diligent. He ducked his head out again to take a closer look. Then he saw a beautiful female silhouette with long green hair and eyes similar to a mermaid. Even though he could only see her long lashes from the side... He could remember the face when he held her. Her body language was still graceful as ever as she slowly approached Lucian from the stairs.
Even though Fabien couldn't see Lucian's face, he knew the guy was having some trouble in his mind. The vibe around him reminded him of an impatient cat.
"I let it slide this time. Remember, the sooner we are done with the mission, the sooner we can go home. I know you want to see your father as soon as possible... At least, if we find more of a trait of this Ghoul. Which we think isn't needed anymore anyway..", Lucian said, not looking at her. Fabien twitched for a slight second as soon as he heard the word" ghoul".
"I'm thankful for the information you guys gathered around in the forest with me. So far, we know that he ate from every small life Form in the forest, probably to regain his strength... I didn't know it would take him a while after what happened 4 years ago. But it explains the radical cutback of the lifeforms in the town and wilderness. The heads lying around in the town also gives him away. He may be still around somewhere. We will take the lead so far.", Lucian said, smirking. He didn't look at Elise once but rather stared out of the window while biting his lip. Meanwhile, Fabien's heart couldn't help but pound loudly in his chest to the point he could hear it. Strangely, It was something Fabien would say too... It made him paralyzed when he heard another person say it. They seemed to talk about an anomaly...
"I will invest further, master. If you just want it, that's it. I will clear any distractions from my head.", Elise said, her voice soft and elegant. She looked at Lucian with self-assured eyes as she slightly bowed down to him.
"Elsie. It's okay that you feel stressed in this kind of situation. I'm just worried about you, that's all. Clear your head before you lose your balance.", he said, smiling. He stretched his hand out to ruffle Elise's hair. There was a hint of red blush on her face as she looked down on her shoes.
