He's not hanging around and yet again I find myself hurrying after a Dauntless member, following along a twisting maze of poorly lit corridors. The floor seems to slope upward, and I can only assume we are heading up to a higher level of the compound.

Predictably, Eric doesn't say a single word to me. I want to ask where we are going, and why only Amity members had to come with him. But the words stick in my throat. If his reaction to Christina earlier is anything to go by, he won't take kindly to a multitude of questions from me.

He stops abruptly in front of an imposing metal door, causing me to almost run into the back of him. Thankfully I don't, and I take a small step back to widen the space between us. While he unlocks and opens the door I briefly look around. It's significantly more modern here than the corridors we've just come from that are closer to the Initiates accommodation; less damp cave and more polished underground headquarters. The walls are polished smooth instead of rough hewn stone, the floor is even and swept clean and the lighting is much brighter and more even.

The door clicks open and he steps inside, I hesitate for a moment before stepping in after him. What the hell does he want with me?

"Sit." Eric indicates a sleek black couch on one side of the room. I don't argue with him, and quickly cross the room.

It's clearly an office of some sort. A large metal desk and plush brown leather chair take up one side of the room. There's paperwork strewn across the desk, and piled on top of the various cabinets that line the walls.

As well as the computer on the desk, there's 2 monitors mounted on the wall that display grainy CCTV images of the compound.

I've not noticed any cameras, but I'm not surprised. Despite the happy go lucky attitude in Amity, the rules were still enforced and no exceptions were made. The fact that a more aggressive faction like Dauntless monitors its members closely is to be expected I guess.

Eric pulls open the bottom drawer of the desk and removes a small box. He opens it and carefully removes a small vial and a syringe.

Hell no.

I'd been injected too many times with additional doses of the Amity Peace Serum to not recognise what this was.

"No fucking way!" I stand up, prepared to make a run for it but where he's stood is blocking the door and therefore my exit.

He laughs, the sound low and deep in his chest and a slight grin flashes across his face. Despite my current predicament my brain can't help but register he's even more attractive when he smiles.

Get a grip Star and focus!

I shake my head, trying to clear my thoughts. Whatever I do, I cannot let this happen. He's clearly trying to sabotage my Initiation efforts by doping me up.

"So she speaks!" He says, as he turns his attention back to the small box. He studies the back of it carefully, clearly reading something. "I was wondering how long it would take before you asked what I wanted with you."

Silence.

I have nothing to say. Scanning the room I desperately look for anything that could possibly help me. I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. After all what chance do I actually have against him. If he wants to pin me down and over power me he could. There'd be nothing I could do about it.

And I'd love it.

I want to scream at myself. This guy is about to screw me over big time and I appear to have only one thing on my mind. What's wrong with me?!

"When did they last inject you?" He questions without looking up.

"I'm sorry, what?" Why did he need to know that?
