CHOICES

“Captain, another good job!” said the commander through the comms’.

“We will pick it up from here” she continued before the comms’ went off.

Ok everyone, unto the other areas. From south, to west, then north, until finally, the east. At the east end, as we were about to place the final shield, a huge splash of water fell on me, almost knocking off the last device from my hand. 

“Wow! Captain, you have to be careful” a trooper said

“Yeah I know” I replied as more splashes came pouring down. It was the onset of rainfall. Just imagine a rain drop like a bucket of water, or half of that. Yeah, that was what you’d call a drop of water on Zaden.

We hastened up and finished up the colony’s shield. The first part of our job was done. We got back to the camp and switched on the shield, a huge dome sprung up, and we were completely covered across a wide range. It was quite amazing.

“Captain, the commander needs to see you” A trooper reported

“See me, as in on the comms’ or see in person?” I asked.

“In person sir, the portal is already prepped for you sir”

Wow! I knew things were serious if she wanted to see me personally. I left the camp in the care of Ade, who seemed a little bit cheerful.

“Be careful Tobi” a voice whispered in my ear as I attempted to move through the portal.

“Who is there?” I asked, as I looked left and right.

“Captain, is there any problem?” asked an engineer

“No, no... I thought I heard someone call my name, I am okay” I replied

“Okay sir, we are ready when you are”

Off I went to meet with the boss herself.

“Where is Commander Grace” I asked

“Oh! Captain Tobi, she reported that you wait for her in her quarters” said a lady in a lab coat.

“Her, Quarters!!” I remarked shocked.

“Yes sir” she replied with a wink as she left me in the corridor.

“It is not like the commander is ugly or bad. She has a very toned body, with meat and muscles in the right places, and I’m a boobs man. Plus, I think she’s single, right?” I thought as I approached her living space, before realizing how dumb I was for having perverted thoughts of that lioness.

“In all sincerity, conquering her would be nice. But am sure she just wants to tell me something top secret” I told myself as I rested my back on the door leading to her room.

Few minutes later in her quarters...

“Tobi, what do you think about the whole project” she asked as she poured me a glass of wine. Her room was quite spacious, with a large bed, and a glass window showing Zaden in all its beauty. It was like a mini palace because of the ambiance.

“Nothing really, I guess we just want to help save humanity from dying out on earth” I replied.

“Is that all?” She said as she walks to the window with a glass of wine in her hand.

“I don’t understand”

“Tobi, that is the problem, you don’t ask enough questions”

I was surprised, which questions, I couldnt say.

“I don’t get what you mean, Commander” I said

“This is difficult. See, just think on it. For now, head to the lab, the Doctor wants to see you” She replied.

“Okay madam, but if I may, why ask me this here? Why risk rumors? It could cause trouble if people start asking questions, as to why we are alone in your quarters” I asked.

“Do you want to make it true?” she replied with a smirk, while taking suggestive steps towards me.

Oh! My God! I went mute, I couldnt utter a single word as she approached. She bends down to me on the chair. I could feel her breath.

“Virginity my comrade, I think I would lose you today.” I thought as I held my chest tight and closed my eyes.

”Hmmmm, at least you are asking questions now.” She whispered before standing back up. She walked back to the window, and I was happy and disappointed.

“Just go and see the good doctor for now, Captain” She said

“Yes sir” I replied before rushing down to see the doctor.

As I approached the lab, I couldnt help but wonder what Commander Grace was trying to say.

“Finally! Youve arrived, Captain” said the Doctor. A calm looking man, medium height, potbellied with rounded glasses, as if he suffered from astigmatism.

“Wait, havent we cured that already” I mumbled to myself as I walked towards him.

“What’s the problem, doctor?” I asked. 

“I need your expertise with these creatures.” He replied.

Expertise, me? I was totally shocked, but as we walked towards the creatures, I finally understood. Because, at the end of the room, in chains and wires were the freaky looking humanoid creatures and the ginormous carcasses of the beast they rode.

“You are the only one here who experienced them up-close, twice, I think. So, we need you to answer some questions, Captain” Said the doctor.

But I just stood there quiet, amazed at human extremity. In just a few hours, we were poking them in all sorts of places. I am not even exempted. I took them down for goodness sakes. But fighting is instant, an adrenaline rush. However. what I witnessed was something else. It had a mediaeval vibe to it. Then again, what do I know.
