Chapter 3: Not a Fairytale Ending (Part 1)
It was the last day at the office until everyone was going to spend time with their families in the holidays. I had often spent it with Marcus since we were the family left of each other. Now... Marcus is spending it with Anya’s family; leaving me, myself, and I on my own.
The livestreams had been a full swing since it all started, and as a treat: Lewis had decided to have a Christmas party over Yogtowers and celebrate. Nearly everyone in the Yogscast was invited: editors (like myself), admins and people abroad are coming because of it.
“I thought that since we’ve been together for 5 years,” Lewis explained. “We should all spend at least for once as a family.”
Most of us agreed since leaving work just for it were nicer. Christelle had suggested spending some time shopping just to buy some gifts and clothes before the night. The both of us trotted down the main street of town as we gossiped about basically everything that was happening at the office.
And I mentioned, “You know a week ago: you asked George to get something from the common room. What was it?”
She stopped and widened her eyes to guess, “Oh yeah... it was presents that we bought, but I decided to give them to you tonight since it’s the party.”
I nodded in agreement and pulled her into New Look. I spoke, “Maybe there’s some stuff here. Hazel said there’s some nice stuff here.”
“Hazel? Is she your friend?” She had asked and I nodded.
I explained: “Yeah. She lives in London with my other friend Aria.” I saw her peer her eyes at me.
Christelle spoke, “Let me guess: Aria’s also your friend.” I replied with a yes and dragged her more to the rack of dresses. The best thing about being in town was to finally wear a dress after 7 months on trousers or leggings. We started scavenging the rows of winter dresses, right before I brought up the subject again.
“Do you have any friends?” I asked, “Beside George anyways.”
She had paused and thought before answering, “Yes, loads actually.” Another breath, she continued. “But I haven’t seen them for ages since the move.”
“When you moved to Yogtowers you mean?” I raised an eyebrow. It was then I realised what I just did. I stuttered: “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to upset you...”
She then laughed slightly; rather sadly but then replied, “It’s alright: I just can’t believe I moved half way across the country, just to be with the love of my life!” Christelle sighed as I picked out a couple of clothes and into my basket. “But... change will never pull you away from little infinities such as love or affection to others. Right Steph?”
I paused and answered: “Yeah.”
I nor said anything afterwards about her reply. It was surprising for me to hear that; though I don’t know how it made me feel so...weird I would say. Is that what’s happening with me and the Hat boys?
After we had bought some party stuff, we decided to head over to Superdrug: buy some makeup and products. We both forgot about the little conversation we had and laughed all the way back to the office with bags. When we had arrived, I was greeted with a glare from Sam: who was wrapping her arms around Smith’s neck whilst he was on his desk. Completing ignoring it, Christelle dragged me back to her office. The whole afternoon we had did some hauls for her channel.
