Chapter 11: The Keynote

The two instead of getting on their flight back to Chicago instead boarded a red eye to San Francisco in order to get to the headquarters of Faith's job. Once within town they had about a 20 minute drive to the hotel Faiths job was putting them up at. It was about 2 am when they finally arrived..

"We better sleep or more like I better sleep, I have to be up in a few hours for that presentation, meeting the team, I don't even know" Faith said to Rose as she dropped her bag and flopped down on the bed in the room.

"You can sleep, I can't sleep right now.. I slept on the plane"Rose Replied as she went into the bathroom and started the shower

"if you keep me up I'm going to end you" Faith said as she didn't care what she was wearing at that point and climbed under the blanket. Faith fell asleep almost as quickly as her head hit the pillow, the night before and a busy day she was running on only a few hours of sleep.

Faiths alarm started to scream in her ear. Half asleep reaching for her phone and shutting it off on snooze, and again about 10 mins later. Yelling like the world depending on it "okay I get it" she mumbled into the pillow as she got up and in the shower and got herself ready for the presentation. When she was about almost ready knowing it didn't take Rose quite as long to get ready as it did her, she went over and woke her up "are you gonna come or sleep?" Faith wondered going back into the bathroom

Rose looked over at her friend half asleep "sleep is for when I'm dead of course bitch" she said as she pulled herself up and started her own morning routine.

"okay well they are going to be here in like 20 mins to pick us up then.." Faith responded as she started to pace after fixing her hair and finishing her make up. She was nervous herself. She only knew the basics of her job was jumping in on a project in the middle of pre production, they had just started development with the locations and such the only thing she knew is that she would be in charge of the production and staying on time and within budget, Getting the locations to agree and all of that other stuff. Being on set every day and maybe not, if owners or locations had questions or contracts to sign.

Rose came out all ready and looked at her "Stop pacing you are going to put a hole in the floor and I don't want to have to pay for that" She said simply as she grabbed her jacket

Faith shook her head at rose as her phone went off. Picking it up seeing that the car the company sent was waiting outside. Grabbing her bag and the room key headed down to the lobby and off to the Car.

Getting the driver to stop at a coffee place was not hard as they were early, and the girls were not behind for once in their lives. As soon as they arrived at the place, Faith looked at the theater "i never thought id actually be here, like in person." She said "oh god im going to vomit, I've been working for them for god knows how long and I just oh my god" she said as she got out of the car.

One of the many assistance came out and scooped her up taking her backstage to meet with the rest of the crew and the producers, the people who were going to be in control of the projection system. A list of bullet points of what she needed to cover, and that there would be a teleprompter with everything she needed to say. Everyone was talking at once and she became over whelmed being pulled in 15 different directions


She then saw him. Her heart stopped. What was he doing here? At her work? "Faith young, Chris Evans he is an executive producer of the project you will be managing he will also be staring in it" Her manager then informed her

"you two are going to get to know each other well" The manager said back to her. Faith was really confused at what was happening at this particular moment. She had a one night stand with this man two days ago after wining a long shot off a contest. Before she could even process anything going on he spoke

Chris nodded as he just grinned looking at you "nice to meet you, we will have a lot to talk about." Chris said back to her as Her manager gave him a card that had her contact number on that

"wait what is that?" Faith wondered as she grabbed the card out of his hand before he could even look at that.

"Your card, which you will get after this. Along with the project details, we will need you with the area within the week, production is due to start In about two weeks, the director has locations that you need to sign off on" The manager said as she pulled the card out of her hand and gave it back to Chris

"thats not my number" Faith said confused as she was being pulled away to the make up area to fix her make up area to do a touch up as she was up in about 10 mins to speak about the new programing that the company is offering

"yeah I know, we couldn't get you here before yesterday to prep you so we have to do it later, you will have a work phone" The manager repeated as the make up artists fixed her face and all of that, and her hair

Everyone was told to take their seats and the keynote gets started.

Faith goes to the crowd into her seat which was next to Rose. Till she was told to go up to the stage. Still overwhelmed by what the hell the last hour of her life was.

"oh my god, you know the job I got.. Chris is one of the producers and staring in the show" She whispered to her friend as she listened to the guy talk about the phones the company was also releasing

Rose gasped "OH MY GOD!" She whispered yelled "we are going to unpack that later"

"please help me welcome One of our project managers of a new show Called defending Jacob, It hasn't quite yet started shooting, so im going to let Faith tell you all about it" Faith got up from her seat and walked the three steps to the stage as she waved to everyone who was clapping

"Defending Jacob, is going to be on the network as you guys have been hearing about this entire time. It is about a young boy who is accused of murdering one of his classmates. Its staring Chris Evans" She had to pause as the crowd erupted as he waved cause the camera guy was showing him off "i know, but not only him. Jaeden Martell and Michelle Dockery and so many more." She said reading the teleprompter with a smile on her face engaging the crowd . The rest of the producers and directors were busy and she was now the next highest ranking member of the company that was free ironically enough. She finished with saying "we can't wait for you to see it early 2020" She nodded as she handed the clicker back off to the next person and walked off stage.

Faith wanted to escape she had stuff she needed to do, and then get home and pack before she was off in a location for who knew how long. She got up and started to walk to the exit of the room. Not paying attention to her surroundings. Rose holding onto her jacket not to loose her as an arm grabbed Faith pulling her to a quiet hallway.

"you were not kidding, Hi Christopher" Rose smirked and leaned against the wall in the empty always as everyone left to go check out the products.

"Rose...." Faith said looking over at her "can need to go I have to get to Mexico." She glared at Rose as she avoided looking at the man who was looking at her, who was studding her features. Every aspect of her.

"Nope, girl you don't get to get out of this conversation, you can't use the escape word" Rose said as she took a few steps away in order to give them privacy but still hear and see everything.
