"No!" I screamed

I opened my eyes and bolted up into a sitting position. My body and blanket were covered in perspiration. My breath was heavy as if I was running. I dropped my gaze down to my shaky hands. They dripped with my blood.

Another nightmare. I've lost count now. To many times I've woken up covered in blood. It doesn't even hurt anymore.

I unclenched my hands and looked around the room. Everything's in order. Light streamed onto my bed from the windows. I looked over to the clock that lay on the night stand beside my bed. It read 6:45a.m. I slowly pulled off the covers that cover my cold body and put a foot on the cold floor. I stood up and stretched my arms. I grabbed a towel that lie on the floor and wiped the blood off my hands. Walking over to the dresser, I brushed my hand over the beautiful design and rested my hand on the golden handle. I quickly changed into a pair of ripped black jeans which had silver stains on them, and a silver tank top. I grabbed my purple jacket and walked into the hallway. My silver hair flowed over my shoulders as I brush it out on my way down the stairs.

I walked into the kitchen where my younger sister Jaylee and my Aunt Melinda stood around the kitchen table. Looking over to my sister, I noticed her staring at me with her big blue eyes.

"Mih, Mhealah!" she mumbled with her mouth stuffed to the brim with food. She gulped down the rest of her food before speaking to me again.

"Hi, Raeyla!" She beamed. She ran up to me and hugged me.

"Hey, little lady bug," I said, patting her midnight black hair.

She smiled up at me. She was wearing a silky blue dress that accented her eyes. A blue head band rested on top of her small head. She's only eight years old and had the biggest heart I have ever seen. I could already tell that when she gets older she'll be taller than my medium height. She ran away chasing after the family dog.

I looked up at my Aunt. She gave me a small smile as she handed me an apple. Her small frame matched her delicate features. Her brunette hair was slowly graying every day. Her pale blue eyes still show signs of a once young woman. I was told that my aunt looked a lot like my mother even though I myself barely remembered what she looked like.

"Thank you, Aunt Melinda," I cordially said. We don't talk much. I could tell she gets squirmish around me, although I don't know why.

"You're welcome, Raeyla. Have a good day at school," she replied quietly.

She started fidgeting with her shirt which was her indirect way of telling me to go. I waved to my sister as I walked out the door. I walked down to the bus stop and sat down on the curb. My bus doesn't come for another minute at least. I felt something hard jab my sides.

"Hi-ya, Silver-eyes," someone said behind me.

"What's up, Jaimie?" I asked nonchalantly.

She sat down on the curb next me. The stray black piece of hair fell over her face. I watched her pull it back behind her ear. Her emerald green eyes look at me with joy. I saw her stare into my silver eyes with admiration. She was convinced that I have colored contacts, when really my eyes were naturally silver.

"Nothing much," she sighed.

I looked down at her hands. They were cut and bruised again. I shook my head as I look back up at her.

"Fighting again?" I asked.

I notice her pulling her long sleeves over her hands.

"Yeah," She mumbled.

"Why don't you tell the police?" I asked, my voice tinting with concern.

"Because he's my father and I couldn't do that!" she said obviously annoyed.

"And your mother?" I asked.

She looked away, so I knew something wasn't right.

"She's-," She gulped, tears forming in her eyes. "She's dead."

"What happened!" I gasped.

"Car accident. Last week," She said.

She rubbed her eyes and looked away. I looked down the road and saw the familiar yellow roof coming over the hill. The bus pulled up to the sidewalk, opening its doors to let Jaimie and me in. climbing into the bus I made my way to the back seat. Jaimie sat in the seat across from me. I pull out my mp3 player, put in my headphones, and stare out the window. Most of the bus ride was spent in silence as I looked out into the gloomy scenery. I raised my hand and touch the window with my fingertips. Immediately cracks shoot out in all directions throughout the glass. Gasping I pulled my hand away and stared at the cracked window.

What the hell?

A crumpled up piece of paper lands in my lap. I un-crumpled it and read the writing that was scribbled on the paper. It said," Hey, Freak, look up."

Confused I lifted my head to find an evil face inches from my own. The blond headed boy smirked and grabbed me by my hair. He pulled me out of my chair and slammed me into the back of the bus. I knew this kid. He was the school bully. Ash. Behind him stood his sister Kara with a look of pure hatred on her face. Terrified faces look back at us.

"What do you want, Asher?" I asked. I pull my hair free from his grip and crossed my arms. I narrowed my eyes as he smiled sweetly, almost innocently.

"What? I can't just say hi?" he asked, faking to be hurt by my rudeness.

"The two biggest douche bags just want to say hello? Somehow I don't believe that," I spat venomously at him.

Kara pushed pass her brother and slapped me hard across the face.

"Don't you ever call us that again!" she spat back.

I tried to lunge at her but her brother's arms held me in place. I struggled to get away but his firm grip only tightened.

"Where do you think you're going, Freak?" Ash asked.

He closed his hand into a fist and went to hit me. I raised my hands in defense. Closing my eyes I felt his hand hit my own hand. He yelped and yanked his hand away. I opened my eyes to see Ash cradling his right hand. Kara looked at me startled and scared. The bus screeched to its stop. Not even thinking twice I bolted to the open doors.
