Hurling up from the mattress as beads of sweat dripped from her forehead, Vevorinique awoke from sleep. She was gripping the sheets of her bed tightly; enough for her to slightly wince from the pressure.
She breathed in gasps, and her eyes were wide; but not because of surprise. Not in shock nor in horror, but rather in Confusion. She was confused by the type of dream she witnessed.
They were never this bad before. They were normally just those moments with... that person. Never the less, she decided to keep the nightmares at bay for now. With a smiple excuse, "It's probably just the bad day I had."
She turned to her night stand where her alarm clock glowed numbers in a red light. It was early into the morning. Too fearful to return to her slumber, Vevorinique slipped out of the room, and towards the kitchen.
Caffeine before dawn would be nice. She'll just hope that her legs don't give up on her before she reaches the coffee, alike in her dream where it wobbled and made her fall every minute. She wondered the meaning...
...
Bringing her lips closer to the steaming dark liquid, she exhaled a blow, then took a small sip. It was still hot, but she ignored the temperature.
Her slim fingers wrapped themselves around the glass container, as she shifted her position so that her body would be leaning more into the table and her elbows rested on top of it, steadying her figure.
She took another sip, softly closing her eyes and sighing out in great relief. Relief to finally drink this beverage in long last. Unbeknownst to her, time flied quickly while she was enjoying her peace.
It was enough time for a little boy to walk through the dark halls to find out why there was light coming from the kitchen. "Hey...Aunt Vevo...." Lucifer croaked, his voice still quite raspy from his recent awakening.
Vevorinique's head whipped towards her nephew, and her surprise turned into joy. She beckoned her Lucifer to sit to the chair next to her, which he followed obediently. The woman scanned the boy.
His usually neat hair, was quite curly, his usually bright eyes, were still tired.
"Hey, buddy! Why are you awake so early?" The woman spoke, smiling at her nephew. "I...don't know. But I had a dream..."
Vevorinique feigned surprise, "Oh, a dream! What was it about?" Before he could reply, Lucifer rubbed his eyes with one of his wrists. "I was at this place where I found a potion and I drank it. Then, I became a monkey."
His aunt laughed, "You became a monkey?"
"Yeah, and if I flapped my arms fast enough, I could fly." His aunt's laughter echoed. The boy smiled, but then turned to his aunt with an urgent expression. "Aunt Veve, I forgot to tell you,"
Her laughter halted. She stared back at her nephew. "What is it?"
"Today, we're gonna have a parent-teacher thing, and I want you to come with me." He spoke, not leaving his gaze from Vevorinoque's eyes. On the other hand, she felt quite unnerved that he managed to look at her long enough with such an expression.
"A parent-teacher meeting, huh...Can't Theia go with you?" Vevorinique countered, sipping her coffee once more. "But I don't want Theia—I want you." Lucifer's gaze couldn't have gone more serious than how it was now.
