Why is he staring at me?

I woke up to the sound of my alarm going off. I groaned and climbed out of bed. I went downstairs to find my mom already in the kitchen.

"Have a nice sleep?" She asked

"Yeah. You?" I replied.

"That bed is so comfy. I gotta say Lai, you have good taste." My mom chuckled as she brought my breakfast to me. Toast and tea.

I know it doesn't seem like a lot to eat for breakfast but what did I say. I'm a picky eater. That and i'm a vegetarian. Against animal cruelty to be more specific.

I quickly finished breakfast before heading upstairs to find Alfie leaving his room in his uniform. He started a bit earlier than I did and he had to catch the bus.

"Have a good first day at school" I smiled, trying to be nice.

"Thanks, you too" He smiled back before heading downstairs.

I went to my room had a shower, and got dressed. It didn't take long so I decided to spend more time on my makeup so I wasn't too early. I finished applying my thin layer of makeup in around 10 minutes. Not enough to cover my gross face though.

I checked the time. 8:30. I was right on time. I grabbed my bag and headed downstairs.

"Ok mom I think I'll head off now." I said, kissing her on the cheek.

"You'll do great trust me." She replied bback before I headed out the room.

I put my blazer on, and then left the house. I already knew the way to school because my mom had driven around town multiple times just to find where things were and we passed the school about a dozen times aslready.

It was warm today, being mid Winter. The worst part of Australia was the heat. I hated hot weather. The thing I loved about England was the weather. I LOVE rain.

I got to the school in no time and so I checked my watch. 8;40. School started in 20 minutes. I was right on track as I headed to main office to get my timetable. I knocked on the window and waited.

The door was answered to a smiley lady who looked as if she was in her late 30's.

"You must be Laila" She smiled as I nodded.

"Yeah, I was told to come here to get my timetable on my first day" I told her.

"Ok why don't you come in and we can sort that out for you" She said, opening the door wider for me to walk through. I took a seat on one of the chairs in there as the lady went to her desk.

"I'm Mrs. Smith by the way. I'm always here in the office if you have any questions" She said as I returned her smile. "Ah, here you go" She said, giving me a small notebook. "This your school planner, you know how it works don't you?"

"Yes, we had these in my old school" I said, opening it.

"Your lessons are in the back of it. Your little tour guide is on her way right now. She'll be helping you around school for a while untill you're comfortable enough to do everything by yourself." She smiled.

"Ok" I replied.

"Sorry I'm late miss, i overselpt." said a girl who had just walked into the office.

She had mid length, dark brown hair and was a little bit shorter than me.

"Hey, I'm Jaiden" She smiled, and looked genuinely very happy.

"Hi, My name's Laila" I smiled back, trying to be nice.

"Shall we go then? Form starts in 10 minutes." Jaiden said, grabbing my hand, pulling me up off the chair.
