“Uh… Tony, we need to go”, Steve said, instantly running out of Tony’s lab & to his car as quickly as possible, Natasha & Tony followed suit.

“Wait what’s going on”, Tony asked? But Steve nor Natasha was able to answer him, by the time Tony asked, Natasha & Steve were already jumping in the car.

They quickly drove off the Sharon’s, Steve was behind the wheel, doing almost 30 over the limit. Steve turned the corner onto Sharon’s street, whipping the back of the car as he drifted the corner.

The tires screeched as Steve slammed on the breaks in front of Sharon’s house. The lights were off inside of the house.

Steve got out of the car, Natasha did the same & both of them marched up the Sharon’s front door. Steve knocked furiously until someone came to answer the door.

Sharon anxiously answered the door, but the door opened slowly. Steve could only see Sharon once the door was open, the rest of the house behind her was pitch black.

“Oh… hi Steve, Ms. Romanoff”, Sharon said making little eye contact, her voice was unusually shakey as she spoke. “W-why did you come over”?

She continuously looked up to their eyes then back down to the ground. Her hair was a mess & when Natasha looked down to her hands she noticed them shaking.

“Steve came over to say hi to James & Emma, he misses them & is being a big baby about it”, Natasha quickly lied, something wasn’t right with Sharon & it was obvious.

Steve looked at Natasha questionably, Natasha slightly jerked her head towards Sharon.

“Can they come here”, Natasha asked? Steve noticed Sharon delayed reaction to the question & her hesitant response.

“They’re in bed right now”, Sharon said, her voice higher than the last time she spoke.

“Then you wouldn’t mind if we stepped in”, Natasha said, she took a step forward but Sharon took a step to the side, blocking Natasha’s way.

Steve just stood confused looking at the two women. He didn’t know what was going on or why Natasha lied about why they came over, but he knew something was wrong after what Sharon said next.

“You can’t”, Sharon said as she stepped in front of Natasha, blocking her way.

“What aren’t you telling us, Sharon”, Steve asked, stepping forward a bit. Her mouth opened but nothing came out.

“I-”, Sharon started.

“Daddy”, Emma yelled from somewhere inside the house! Steve pushed his way inside the house. He ran through the hallway, making a clear image of where the scream came from in the living room.

Emma & James were both in the living room, with the purple masked man. He held a gun to Steve’s direction when he saw Steve enter the room.

“Not so fast Cap”, Zemo said, the assault rifle aimed towards his head. Steve was without his shield. Steve lifted his hands in the air.

“Zemo, let them go, they didn’t do anything”, Steve said, his hands were above his head. “Just let them go”.

“I make the calls around here”, Zemo yelled! He jerked forward, making Steve jump a little. Zemo took deep & heavy breaths, calming himself down. “Get to the ground”.

Steve lowered himself to his knees, his hands now placed behind his head, “You don’t have to do this, you can walk away now”.

“You don’t get it”, Zemo said, his head swayed from side to side. Steve shook his head in agreement because he didn’t know why Zemo was upset with him. “8 years ago, the floating city in the sky came out of nowhere, but we weren’t worried, the Avengers had it”.

Steve recalled the memory he was talking about Sokovia & Ultron, “So you lost someone”.

“My boy could see Ironman flying around in the sky from the car”, Zemo said, ignoring Steve’s statement. “They were miles from the city, but when the dust settled & the rubble was cleared, my father still holding my wife & child in his arms”.

“I’m so sorry, we can’t save everyone”, Steve apologized. “We can’t control fate”.

“But you didn’t have to make it”, Zemo said fixing the guns aim on Steve’s forehead. “The robot, it was Starks. The Avengers killed my family”.

The gun lowered to James. James whimpered as he felt the barrel of the gun hit his back, tears lined his eyelids & he curled into a ball, waiting & dreading.

“No, this isn’t going to bring them back”, Steve yelled! “This isn’t what they would want for you”?

“The people see the Avengers as gods, but once you show that gods bleed, they are just false gods & mere mortals”, Zemo said. “The Avengers need to know how it feels to bleed”.

The barrel of the gun rose, creeping up James’ spine & to his head. His tears fell & his sobs roared through the house.

“Nobody is invulnerable”, Zemo said, glaring down at the children in front of him. “Not even you”.

“Please don’t do this”, Steve begged, his hands raised in the air again. “You’re mad at the Avengers, not them! They didn’t do anything”!

“I lost my loved ones that day”, Zemo admitted. “Now you too will feel that pain”.

Zemo’s hand started to grip on the handle as his finger started to tighten on the trigger . . . .
