Instant Family

Unexpected Call

Natasha sat in the living room of her home & flipped threw the pages of the book she was reading. 

Another minute another page. She reads to pass the time in between mission, that she was currently unable to go on, due to S.H.I.E.L.D falling. 

She reached her 20th chapter, but was interrupted by her home phone ringing. Which was rare, only Nick, Maria, & her fellow Avengers knew the number & they scarily called. 

Natasha marked her page & went to grab the phone. 

She picked the phone up & read the caller ID: Unknown number

She hastily covered the mic & answered the phone, without making a sound she let time fulfill so she could track the number, that was until the person started to speak. 

"Hello? Nat", A man asked? 

"Steve", Natasha said taken back. "Who's phone is this"? 

"Mine", Steve stated questionably. 

"You actually got one", Natasha joked, silence overcome them again. "What are you calling for"? 

"I need you to come & watch the kids for me", Steve said. 

"Oh, you & Sharon got something special planned", Natasha joked. 

"Not exactly", Steve said in a serious voice, killing Natasha's joke. 

"Is everything alright", Natasha asked? 

"Yeah, I just need you to come over", Steve said, Natasha agreed & grabbed her keys to head over to Steve's house.

The drive was only 10 minutes & Natasha had no trouble finding it. 

She pulled up to the driveway, looked to see if there was an open space, which there was, & pulled in. 

She exited her car & walked up to the door, but before she could open it the door was flung open & Sharon angrily walked out. Steve was not far behind her. 

"Sharon", Steve yelled after her, completely unaware that Natasha stood feet away from him. "You can’t just do that", Steve yelled as he walked down the steps of his porch & walked up to her car. 

Sharon started her car & pulled out of the driveway. 

Steve stood disappointed at the end of the steps, he eventually made his way back up them, that's when he noticed Natasha. 

"Trouble in paradise, huh", Natasha asked? 

"More like trouble from paradise", Steve said putting a fake smile across his face. "Glad to see you Nat", Steve gave Natasha a hug & she returned it. 

"Yeah", Natasha said before following Steve inside the house. 

The minute Natasha entered the home she was bombarded by children & a dog. 

They found themselves walking through the living room & into the kitchen. 

"I need you to watch them today", Steve said as he got a glass of water. "I'll be back at 5 if that is okay, I'll pay you when I get back". 

"It's no problem", Natasha reassured Steve, she could tell something was wrong. 

"Great", Steve said. He walked back out to the living room. He knelt in front of his daughter & son playing on the floor. "I have to leave, but I have Nat watching you guys until I come back".
