Stepping out the yellow cab, Breyanna quickly paid the driver and watched them drive off from her sight. With a rolling suitcase in hand, she turned to face the house she'd been living in for the last few years of her life; a house she, at one point, tried to make a home with the man she loved.
It looked the same as it did on the outside, but Breyanna was afraid to see if it looked the same on the inside. She knew she hadn't left the house in the best of conditions when she was here last.
Releasing a deep sigh, Breyanna rolled her suitcase up the driveway. She slid her key into the front door, only to find that the locks had definitely been changed.
"Shit," she hissed in frustration, "of course." She muttered, shoving the key back into her pocket. She knew that this was Gemma's doing.
Breyanna then headed toward the the carport where a white van sat in the driveway. Her brows furrowed in surprised confusion when a couple of men, who she realized was fixing the house, breezed right past her. They gave her a quick nod, and she returned the gesture, following the path that they had just came from. She noticed that the back door that led to the laundry room had been left wide open.
Stepping inside, Breyanna made her way through to the kitchen, and she was instantly flooded with memories. Settling her suitcase in a corner, she began to walk around the house, and she noticed that Gemma had definitely changed some things around
Everything looked neat and clean. Brand new carpet. New curtains. New coffee tables. Freshly painted walls. The only thing that was the same was Jax's tacky leather couch in the living room. Breyanna remembered many arguments about getting rid of that hideous thing, but the biker could never let it go. It was the first piece of furniture he bought upon signing the lease on the house. She still hated it. There were also many nights that she would find him sleeping on that couch, after deciding that he should come home for the night.
Breyanna then found her way into what she saw was her son's nursery. Her heart filled with the incredible joy at the the room with baby blue walls and pristine, white furniture. Walking over to the crib, she ran a gentle hand across the mobile hanging above the bed. The lullaby jingled for a moment upon her touch. She then looked up, smiling at Abel's name proudly displayed decoratively on the wall above the crib.
When Breyanna finally found her way back to the kitchen, she took a seat in one of the empty chairs at the table. This room changed the most. Brand new cabinets. New refrigerator. New linoleum floors that hid her most tragic of moments.
Her emotions began to threaten to explode, as she remembered the last time she was in this room. Hand splayed on her growing belly, while desolately shoving a syringe of crank into her body.
