Chapter 8: Toat Extermination

What happened so far...
The trial against Kazuma and Reyes has ended with Darkness saying that she will deal with Aldarp. Now Kazumas group waits for her to return while Luna has something she wants to tell Reyes.

3rd person pov

Reyes:" So that really happened?"

Megumin:" Yes, they took all the furniture, even the beds."

Reyes and Megumin are sitting in the guild hall and while the former waits for his three female companions to get over the fact that they will have to hunt Giant Toats, which manages to freak out even Lyda, Megumin is just in there to not be around when Kazuma and Aqua have one of their squabbles again.

Reyes:" Don't look so down, if you want you can stay with us for the time being."

Megumin:" Thanks for the offer, but at least the mattresses, pillows and blankets were left. So you have decided to gu and hunt Giant Toats?"

Reyes:" For some reason there are a while lot of those outside the walls, any idea why?"

Megumin looks away with a bit of red on her cheeks, which comes from embarrassment since she is kinda at fault for waking the Toats up with her daily casting of Explosion-magic.

Lydia sits down next to Megumin, after she managed to pull herself together.

Lydia:" Have you two noticed that Luna is glancing at you?"

Reyes:" I did, but if she wants to tell me something she can just come here."

Lydia:" It is impressive that you manage to go from gentleman to brute at the blink of an eye."

Reyes:" I can be a gentleman if I have to, but if something or someone gets on my nerves enough I can be a brute too."

Chris:" Well, then you can take care of the toats alone right?"

Reyes:" Alright, but then I won't share the reward, after all I would have done all the work."

Chris stares at him until she gets a determinant look and marches to the table while Reyes is smirking at her.

Chris:" Now listen here! We will do this as a team and split the reward, clear!"

Reyes:" *smirks and lifts his hands up* Sure, whatever you say, but don't come crying when one of the toats eats you."

As she realizes that Reyes managed to play her she immediately wants to take back what she said but Reyes doesn't listen to her, mainly because Luna tries to be stealthy and is very bad at it while making some gestures that are supposed to get Reyes to go to her.

Reyes:" Well, the beautiful guild-lady desires my presence, if you excuse me."

Chris:" Wait. What!?"

At the back of the guild hall Luna and Reyes are now standing a bit out of sight of the other adventurers that are in the building.

Luna:" I don't remember you being the type for teasing."

Reyes:" What a few days of rest can do for a person. So what did you want to talk about?"

Luna:" Well, uhm, as I remember you are still in need of two more members for your partie, right?"

Reyes:" Yes, a ranger and someone that can draw the fire from the girls. Do you have someone specific in mind?"

Luna:" Yes, but he isn't really the youngest adventurer and although I always tell him that he can't just go and be an adventurer again he just won't listen..."
