I laid wide awake for a couple of hours when I gave up on sleeping. Once I was finally ready for the day I knew I wanted to find Mr. Jag. There had to be something he could give me to keep me busy.
I tired his home office first, but found it empty. I than tried the garden to find the same, empty. Since I didn't know the house well I went straight to the kitchen to ask Rox. When I got there I saw Rox running around like a fool.
"Rox, what can I do to help?" I asked
"Can you grab the eggs, milk and butter from the fridge. I already have the rest in my arms to make cookies. Would you like to finish making cookies with me?" asked Rox
"Sure," I said
Almost an hour later Rox and I finally put the cookies into the oven and started to wash the many dirty dishes we had made.
"Please Wynter dont get me wrong, but I dont believe for a second you came in here to help me make cookies. So why did you come find me? You look like you are about to pass out where you stand. Did you get any sleep last night?" asked Rox
"You are right Rox, I didn't come to help. Yet I did have a lot of fun. I learned a lot about making cookies. I wish that my mom took the time to teach me such things. I was wondering if you knew were Mr. Jag is? I already tried his home office and the garden. I didn't get any sleep," I said
"Well since today is Saturday he would be in his library. I would be more than glad to show you the way in teo minutes when the cookies come out of the oven. I know this isn't my place, but you should try to get more sleep. Would you like to help me cook dinner later?" asked Rox
Before I could even answer the timer went off and Rox ran to get the cookies out of the oven. She placed some freshly baked cookies on a plate and poured two glasses of milk.
"I would like to help cook dinner with you, however have no clue what to do," I admitted sheepishly
"Don't worry I will teach you. Here is a glass of milk and some cookies. You deserve it since you helped me bake them. I will set up another plate for Mr. Jag. Once that's done we can be on our way, said Rox
I sat there enjoying freshly baked cookies and a glass of milk. Once Rox had gotten everything all set for Mr. Jag, we headed to the library.
It wasn't even five minute walk. Rox stopped hand me the tray and walked down the hallway. I stared at the door that entered the library for a good two minutes. I was afraid to ask Mr. Jag for work. I finally worked up the courage and went into the library.
"Mr. Jag, I am sorry to bother you however I would like to talk to you. I also have brought with me fresh baked cookies and milk," I said
"Isn't this nice surprise, please come sit. I wasn't sure if I was going to see you today. Have you tried Rox's cookies? They are highly addictive. Please come have a seat. What would you like to talk about?" asked Mr. Jag
"I am sorry for the way I acted the other day. You gave me a lot to think about, but I also am not sure I can trust you yet. Yes Rox's cookies are highly addictive. She had me try her cookies when I found her in the kitchen. I was wondering if there's any type of job you could give me. I need some way to keep my mind busy," I said
"Well as of right now I don't have any jobs that I could give you. You could always offer to help my staff out. Honestly I am not surprised you are not sure if you can trust me. I would be worried for my life if you did trust me so soon. Is there anything else I can do to help? Would you care to keep me company while I read until dinner? Please know any room in my home is open to you," said Mr. Jag
Instead of verbally answering Mr. Jag I got a book and got comfortable and started to read. I wasn't sure if I would ever be able to trust Mr. Jag. Yet I knew that at least Rox will be willing to allow me to help. It was around three in the afternoon when I left Mr. Jag in order to find Rox.
I spent the rest of the time following Rox's order on making dinner. Twenty minutes before dinner was done she sent me out of the kitchen to find Mr. Jag. Sure enough by the time we arrived back in the dining room Rox was ready to start serving us.
There was a bit of small talk at dinner between everyone, but me. I had hoped to escape the meal before anything major went down.
"Mr. Jag, how did you like the cookies and dinner tonight? I ask because Wynter had helped me with both. I am also hoping that she keeps helping me," said Rox
"I didn't even know that Wynter helped you on either. Both were great. I hope as well that she keeps helping you," said Mr. Jag
I started to blush and wanted to find the quickest way out of the room without being rude. When I was finally able to excuse myself from dinner I did. I went straight to my room and started to draw again.
I also hoped that sleep would come quickly since it chose to skip over me completely the night before. Nevertheless I had a gut feeling that sleep wasn't going to be my friend tonight. I kept drawing all through the night right into early morning. I knew this wasn't healthy to go so long without sleep. Yet this wasnt even close to what the shop had done to me.
It was when the sun started to raise when sleep finally hit me like a train. Sadly not even thirty minutes later I was wide awake with fear running through my body.
I knew that I wasn't going to get anymore sleep and went looking for Rox and finding out if there was anything I can do to help.
I was half way down the hallway when I was hit with a huge dizzy spell and felt myself falling. The last thing I recalled was calling out for Rox's help and than everything went black.
