Who says that demons must be ugly?
Is it the horns that erupt from their heads?
Or is it the charcoal black skin?
With fangs like shark teeth
And eyes red as blood?
Who says that demons must be ugly.

What if demons are stunning?
Could it be their high cheekbones
And long eyelashes?
Or could it be the charming smile?
With voices that melt butter
And eyes deep as gold?
What if demons are stunning.

Who says that demons must be animalistic?
Is it the goat legs from the waist down?
Or is it the tiger claws that escape from the skin?
Be it scales or feathers,
Slimy skin or dry.
Who says that demons must be animalistic.

What if demons love creatures?
A familiar to keep them in this world?
Or could it be the three-eyed black puppy at their heel?
A black cat with bright green eyes to roam the halls
And a snake with two heads to keep them company.
What if demons love creatures.

Who said that demons must be cruel?
Is it the torture of human beings?
Or is it the blood splatter on their clothing?
Pieces of flesh caught in their teeth
And sporting defensive wounds?
Who said that demons must be cruel.

What if demons are kind?
Like helping a blind man across the street?
Or could it be the one holding open the door
For the mother with her arms full?
Buying a kid ice cream after it falls to the ground,
And rescuing a kitten stuck in a tree.
What if demons are kind.

Who said that demons must be inhuman?
Is it the way they hunt their prey from the shadows?
Or is it the fact that they speak a language no one understands?
Their voices fill those who hear it with terror
And a need to work alone.
Who said that demons must be inhuman.

What if demons are more human than we thought?
By working together to solve a problem
Or letting out their emotions with a scream?
Could they be depressed and lonely like us,
And are social creatures like us?
What if demons are more human than we thought.

Who said that demons must be evil?
Is it the laughter that causes chills to run down your spine?
Or is the fact that they work for the Devil scare you the most?
Murdering people left and right
Smiling as they do so?
Who said that demons must be evil.

What if demons are good?
Doing their best to save the life of a suicidal boy
Ready for the bullying to stop?
Or helping the girl confess her love to the girl across the street?
Holding hands with the poor,
Feeding the starved?
What if demons are good.
