The day of the trial had finally arrived. Henry closed down the studio for the week so that the four could use that time to rest.

Norman had spent the week helping Sammy get used to living with him. The musician had reoccurring nightmares pretty much every night, eventually accepting Norman's offer to share his bed with him. He'd wake up from his awful dreams to find himself wrapped up in the warm arms of his Southern man, which helped him to relax much quicker than before when he was on the couch.

Wally meanwhile had gotten both Henry and Sammy a scheduled trip to the doctors, which they went to in the middle of the week. Turns out Sammy had been so anxious and had such a heightened pain tolerance that he didn't have the chance until now to realize his wrist was sprained. The doctors properly helped him to patch up his wounds, even having to give him a few stitches in his scalp from some of the shattered glass.

Henry meanwhile got a clean new pair of glasses, similar to his old ones but a little rounder. The doctors discovered that due to Mr. Lawrences complete lack of care as to where the belt landed on him, the poor animator had been hit full force with the metal buckle right to his foot, causing some inner tissue to tear as long as a slight sprain and a large bruise. He wouldn't be able to walk without help for a couple days, and would possibly be stuck with a very slight limp for even longer. Wally was pissed to hear the news, wanting to do nothing more than punch Earl Lawrence so hard in the face his nose broke.

Now it was the trial day. Norman wore a navy blue suit why Sammy wore a white one. Henry wore a green suit jacket and Wally just put on his nicest white button down and yellow tie. Norman and Wally collectively made sure that Sammy looked the best out of all of them for the trial, wanting to be sure that the Lawrences could see how much happier and better off the musician was without them in his life.

-.-

Everyone has been questioned, and Sammy's parents outright lied to the judge. The trial is now pausing for a recess while the jury discusses their decision. Norman gently squeezes Sammy's hand from under the table, giving him a calm smile.

"We've got this, Sammy... I'm sure of it..."

Sammy looks up at him, leaning on his shoulder. "I-I hope so..."

-.-

The trial is back in session. The room is tense as the judge raises their gavel.

"The jury has decided that Shanon and Earl Lawrence are guilty of all charges. Mr. Earl Lawrence has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for disturbing the peace, multiple counts of abuse, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless child endangerment, and hate crime. Mrs. Shanon Lawrence has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for disturbing the peace, reckless child endangerment, multiple counts of abuse, and hate crime. The Lawrences will also pay $20,000 to Samuel Lawrence and $5,000 to Henry Stein for damages, and will be required to sign a restraining order. This concludes the trial. Everyone have a good day." The judge bangs the gavel and leaves.

Sammy just sits in silent shock, tears slowly streaming down his face as a wide smile spread across it. He sniffles, relief washing over him. He turns to Norman and hugs him tightly, happily sobbing into his chest. Norman holds him close, happily taking him back home. Wally and Henry leave for their house, giving Norman and Sammy a friendly goodbye as they go.

It takes around 2 days to get Sammy fully moved in. Him and Norman now share a bedroom and Norman's guest room was converted into a practice room for his musician to store his instruments. Both Sammy and Henry healed fantastically and were back to their old selves within a couple weeks. Sammy was back to the way Norman had always remembered him. He wasn't scared and hiding himself away. Instead he stood tall and confident in himself. Everyone was happy, and Sammy truly would never have to suffer from his parents ever again.
