Chapter 17
Immediatly, I ran. I ran as fast as I could and picked a long kind of sword. A girl came toward me and without thinking, I plunged my weapon through her chest. Her blue eyes opened and she gasped. I took back my sword and let her die alone.
"Celestia! Where are you?" I heard. First, I was shocked that someone actually knew my name and yelled it, but when I turned to face the person that screamed my name, I got face to face with Carrie, and remembered that I actually told her my real name. "Allies?" She asked. I looked behind her and Mitch was trying as hard as he can to push away the tributes that were coming toward us. I thought. Could we become allies ? I didn't think so. If I wanted to protect her, to protect myself, I had to go with Collins.
"I'm sorry, Carrie, i'm really sorry.." I said, as I backed up with my sword pointed toward her. "If you don't go away with him, you'll both be dead. Please, don't come with me."
"But-" She started.
"It's for your safety." I responded. With that, I turned and ran to pick up other things. A bag full of equipment, other different kind of weapon, anything that could be useful but that won't stop us to run. I saw his blonde curls first, then his hands full of blood. Surely not his. I ran to meet him.
"Collins! I have the stock, let's go away." I proposed.
"But i'm just starting to have fun!" He pouted.
"Don't care, let's go!"
I took his hand. The feeling of touching some tribute's blood made me want to puke, but also to smile, because that meant that there were less and less tributes left. We stopped to catch our breath, and I noticed for the first time that it was in fact really cold. I shivered and proposed to Collins to stop here. He accepted. Together, we unpacked our bags and searchrd for what could be really useful, and what wasn't. After a moment, I heard booms, like I heard when the guy fell of his plate. I paid attention and counted them. One, two, three... It stopped at nine. Only nine tributes were dead. There was about fourteen left, minus that guy at the plate, minus us, so that meant about twelve tributes left.
"We could hunt 'em down uh?" He said.
"Maybe, it'd be a lot faster."
"Celestia-" he started, turning his face toward me, "I really meant it yesterday when we.. I want to come back home with you."
I was petrified. I didn't know what to do. Should I believe him? Or should I just run away right here, right now. He leaned, and pecked my lips.
"I truly love you." He murmured into my ear. He after got up and offered his hand. "I want to go back home, with you, as soon as possible. Let's kill some of them right now." He proposed.
I looked at his hand, then at him. His eyes were full of determination, but mostly of love. I was really in trouble. I got up and we walked, savouring the rare calm moment. Then, we heard footsteps. We stopped and put our bags down. It was two girls : One had black hair, and the other one, a colour between red and brown. We hid in a bush full of snow, and waited. When the girls were close, we jumped out of it. I chose the black haired girl, and plunged my weapon through her chest, killing her pratically instantly. Yes, I wanted to come home quickly, but that didn't mean I had to make other people suffer. Some people could say that didn't matter, because they were going to die, but if I was meant to die, I'd prefer to die in a fast way than a long and suffering way. I looked at Collins and he did the same as me. We did a high five, took our bags and ran away.
10 left.
