Days passed, and the festival arrived. Everyone was out and about, people manned stalls selling different kinds of trinkets or food. Some people were playing instruments as others gathered around to watch. All in all, the capital was packed with people, each street busy and decorated colorfully.
Our mage left the inn he was staying at, leaving Rune to man the fort. He left the wolf as it was too eye catching to move around. So he bribed the wolf to stay by saying he would give the wolf treats. The wolf obliged as it wagged its tail, its master leaving a few treats as he left, leaving the wolf chewing on them, as it laid on the carpeted floor. So easy.........
Kael strode through the crowd, slowly nearing the castle located at the center of the capital.
The castle would always open its gates on this very day, allowing anyone to come and go as they pleased. Although certain sections were still off limits, many still came and explored the places they were allowed to go, although most people stayed at the courtyard or at the ballroom since these two places were connected and regularly used to entertain guests.
People littered the courtyard as the mage strode through the gates of the castle, a guard stationed at each side bowed a little as he passed.
Kael took his place at the sidelines, under a tree. He leaned against it as he eyed his surroundings. "This is going to be interesting.." A smirk played at his lips as he detected a few red signals from some of the people who were stationed around the courtyard. It seems a show is on its way!
As said before, this is the only day where the castle allows its gates to be open to the public, so some people with ill intentions take this as an opportunity to do evil deeds.
And it seems some of them sneaked their way in as a handful or two, caught the mages eye.
"Really...if your barrier can't even detect these simple things........you can do better than that, my dear disciple." The mage gently shook his head, feigning a look of disappointment.
As Kael strode through the gates a while ago, he felt the invisible force of the barrier, activated and controlled by no other than his disciple. Although, he couldn't help but notice the laziness of the activation. Its like the caster did not bother to think about what the barrier could and would not repel, and merely flicked their arms to get over with it. "It was a large scale barrier, yes, but.......it was done lazily as it did not repel people with malicious intentions such as these...I taught you better than this, Ian...." Kael's lips tugged into a small frown as he tugged strands of his hair and braided them as he waited for the event that's about to take place.
Moments passed until a loud trumpet was heard. A man appeared on a balcony a few stories up, looking over the courtyard, making all the people present look up towards him as the people in the ballroom stepped out into the courtyard as the commotion ceased.
"May I present you! King Augustus and Queen Diane of Alteria!!" He shouted as he moved toward the side.
The King and Queen made their way toward where the man just stood.
"We welcome you all as we celebrate this day! The day where our heroes defeated the demon king and returned peace to our lands!!" The King spoke in a booming voice as he extended his arm outward.Cheers erupted from the crowd as all attention was focused on the rulers. Which made it easy for the cockroaches to move.
Kael paid no mind to the ongoing speech as his eyes were on the nine people who stood by the side, smirking as they thought they would get away with their job quick and easy.
"A woman and 8 men........How I wonder, how you'll provide me entertainment?" Kael smirked as he ran his hands through his hair, unbraiding the intentionally tangled strands. He was in the shade of the trees as he pushed up from his leaning position. "That disciple of mine needs more training if pests like these can get through. I should triple his training as punishment."
