Gabriel's P.O.V.

I was hoping that I would be allowed to participate in the next year's Trials, but Alpha Nicholas has other ideas.

Over the loudspeaker, he announced, "Well would you look at that! We have one new participant in this year's Trials! Come on down to the arena and stand on the red line. Now we have an even number, which will make this a lot easier"

Shit. I didn't have any experience fighting as a wolf. Sure, in human form I was pretty good, but this came completely out of the blue and smacked me across the face.

Do not worry yourself. We will kill them all with ease.

"Uhhhh... you might not want to do that considering we could get thrown out of the pack and the Alpha's son is down there..." I said to my wolf as I trotted to the steps leading to the arena. "Besides, you're smaller than all of them. Your shoulders are like what, four feet off the ground? They're at least half a foot taller! What's your name, anyways?"

Do not insult me again. I could still kill them all despite my size. And my name... my name is Fenris.

"Well Fenris, just help me pass the Trials without killing anyone, okay?"

Fine. He grumbled. But let me know if you need anyone killed.

By the time my wolf and I had finished our conversation, I was in the arena and standing on the line with the other wolves. Alex glared at me, most likely for "stealing" all the attention away from him, and I let out an involuntary growl.

"Don't growl at me, pup," he snarled, "The next time something like that happens, you'll be six feet under before you even know what's happening."

Give me control. I want to kill him. Fenris demanded, angry with rage at the way the Alpha's son spoke to us.

"No! Even if we did manage to kill him, we'd be kicked out of the pack or be killed!"

At that point, Alpha Nicholas made an announcement.

"My Beta and I have made a decision. Since we now have an even number of contestants, 18, my son now has an opponent for the first part of the Trials. Now, can the first pair of wolves come stand opposite each other in the ring?" he said, pointing to the white circle in the center of the arena.

It took me a few seconds to comprehend what he had just said. I was going to be sparring with Alex. And with the murderous glint in his wolf's eyes, I could tell he wasn't going to follow the rules and stop after the first drawing of blood. Ignoring him, I watched as the first pair of wolves stood facing each other in the ring.

"Now, remember the rules. You will spar each other 3 times. Whoever is the first to draw blood wins. Each time you win, it will add one point to your total score," he said while motioning to the scoreboard projecting on the wall.

"You hear that, Gabe? I get to kick your ass 3 times," Alex said via mind-link. I just ignored him, much to the displeasure of Fenris who was fighting to take control and kill him. I almost lost it several times as I struggled to keep my wolf under control.

"Begin," said Alpha Nicholas to the two wolves. I watched, surprised at the fact that the first two rounds went over so fast and it was now at the last round for the two, both having one point and both panting heavily. The grey wolf sprang as soon as the word was spoken, the brown quickly dodging and getting behind the other. The third round was over just as quick as the first two as the grey turned to face his opponent, but he was too slow. The brown she-wolf quickly stuck out her paw and clawed the grey's side, finishing their fight.

"And we now have a clear lead, Gwendolyn!" the Alpha announced. (A/N- this is 4 u, @vviticus, my fav author, ily) "Now go to the side and wait for the next event."

The next fights went over just as quickly, most people earning one or two points. And Oliver was right, the kid who always wore a propeller hat did have a good chance. He won all three of his rounds, taking first place. The only fight that still hadn't taken place was between Alex and I.

"After this last fight, we will move on to stage two, which will test the pups' speed and agility. Now, without further ado, let the last fight begin. Alex and I quickly ran over to the circle, with me almost tripping and falling on my face. We faced each other, Fenris quiet for once, which was a bit strange.

"Begin."

Not even realizing what happened, I was already lying in the dirt, pinned down by Alex's large wolf. Taking his time as I struggled to push him off, he raised his paw and looked at me with an amused expression as he ran one of his claws lightly down my face, narrowly missing my eye. Crimson blood spilled out, marking the end of the first round. He got up, still looking at me like I was the biggest joke in the world. Then finally, Fenris decided to make an appearance.

This time attack first, he griped. That way we can draw our claws along his neck the same way he did to our face.

I did as he said, but underestimated Alex's speed. When I looked under my paws where he was supposed to be, nothing was there. I whirled around, but was too slow. I was tackled again to the ground, this time Alex showing no expression on his wolf's face as he wasted no time slashing my side, blood spilling out as I howled in pain. Red flooded my vision as I turned with great effort to face him for the third and final round. I suddenly felt myself being pushed to the back of my mind, Fenris forcibly taking control. Not even waiting for the Alpha to start the round, he attacked with an unnatural speed, shocking Alex, based on his facial expression. I grew more and more horrified as my wolf slammed the Alpha's son to the dirt, snarling in his face.

"Stop!" Alpha Nicholas shouted as Fenris raised his jaws to clamp down on Alex's neck.

But before Fenris was about to end Alex's life, our body was slammed to the ground, three men on top of us pinning down a writhing Fenris. We were dragged out of the arena and shoved forcibly into a cell in the dungeon, all three of the guards spitting on us as they slammed the door and left.

"Great job, Fenris! Now we'll either be killed or exiled, both ways ending up with us most likely dying."

Quiet human.

"Oh, shut up! Why couldn't you have controlled yourself and helped me win the third round?"

He deserves to die.

"For what? Sure, I know he's an asshole, but that's not a reason to kill anyone!" He was silent after that. But it wasn't even a few minutes later when I heard a different voice in my head, after what sounded like a wolf yawn.

Ya know what? You should listen to Gabe more often, Fenris. We don't want to die, now do we?

"Who is this?" I demanded.

Who, me? the voice said. I'm Fenris's twin brother, Cylix.

Yay another chapter done! Who do ya guys like better so far? Fenris or Cylix?
