For the first time in a long, long time, it was as though dinner was magically made in my dreams. It was a good thing. The table was set with chicken breast,, macaroni and cheese, and a potato casserole. The plates had been set by my lovely assistant and personal chef, Ashleigh. "Enjoy your dinner" she said. Her rosy pink cheeks resembled a kind of warmth similar to the sun in a clear evening sky. Her dimples creased into her flesh, revealing the perfect pinch-worthy cheeks, which I took advantage of, and pinched. Ashleigh, however, did not seem to know how to react to this, she flashed a less friendly and kind, and more of an awkward and embarrassed child-like posterior. I did not know anything about this girl quite yet, but from her reaction, I could tell she did not have many elders in her life.
Moving on from the awkward encounter, I happily grabbed my fork and knife, and dug into the delectable meal. First, I sank my fork into the casserole, once the potatoes touched my tongue I noticed something—or dare I say—a lack of something. The potatoes... they tasted like absolutely nothing. Perhaps potatoes just were not her thing. I then tried the macaroni and cheese. It tasted rather familiar, soggy, cheap, and not made with the abilities of a good cook... It was Kraft Mac & Cheese.
Ashleigh could sense that I did not find her food the utmost best. She looked at me with sorry blue eyes, a calm apologetic ocean after a terrible storm. I decided to give her one more chance. I tore into the chicken breast doused in gravy, but no amount of gravy could hide the dryness of this chicken breast. It was so dry, in fact, it caused me to choke, which Ashleigh came immediately to my aid. After that, she gave me a green pineapple jello cup to make up for the whole predicament.
If this girl is to be my caretaker, I am going to have to teach her a few things about cooking.
