s2e15: the dinner party

"Other than your lecture on the history of Mystic Falls, did you get anything out of Elijah?" Damon asked Alaric at the bar of the Grill, Brynley working and listening closely.

"No, it was boring. Of course, Jenna thinks he's charming." Alaric sighed and Brynley looked down at the drink she was preparing, also getting a bit jealous.

"You sounded jealous. Sound a bit jealous?" Damon questioned.

"Kinda do." Andie, Damon's girlfriend, agreed.

"Maybe we shouldn't talk about this here." Alaric looked at Andie.

"Andie, she's been compelled not to divulge my secrets. Haven't you?" Damon smirked.

"Uh-huh." Andie pulled Damon in for a kiss

"This is too weird." Alaric looked at them in disgust as Brynley walked up to them from behind the bar.

"Very weird." Brynley handed Ric his drink.

"Coming from the 17-year-old working at the bar." Damon looked at Brynley.

"Hey, I'm 18 in a couple months and my dad owns the place, I can do whatever the hell I want." Brynley reminded. "So, what do you need to know about Elijah?"

"Right now, I want to know why you're spending so much time with him." Damon said.

"He's been helping me with stuff," Brynley shrugged and Damon shot her a look. "He's my friend, Damon."

"Well, based on how the two of you were looking at each other yesterday, I'm guessing that you have a little crush on him," Damon smirked. "And that he might feel the same for you, pixie dust."

"I'll shove that cup of bourbon down your shirt, right now." Brynley threatened.

"So I'm right." Damon said and Brynley rolled her eyes.

"Shut up, Damon." Brynley demanded.

"Ah, there's Jenna with her new boyfriend." Damon looked at Elijah and Jenna, who had just entered the Grill. Brynley quickly grabbed a spoon and checked her reflection, Damon looking at her. "Oh, I'm so right."

"And I'm having a really good skin day." Brynley mumbled as Elijah and Jenna walked up to the bar. "Hi."

Elijah smiled at her as he admired her. She looked different than usually. Her loose curls that were usually down were in a ponytail, she wore less makeup, not that she ever wore a lot, a pencil behind her ear, and she wore a t-shirt that said the Mystic Grill.

"Hey, guys." Jenna greeted.

"Can I get you guys anything?" Brynley asked and Elijah smirked slightly at her waitressing act.

"No thanks, Brynley." Jenna shook her head before giving her a strange look as to why she was behind the bar.

"My dad left me in charge Jenna, and I figured that I was the least likely to get in trouble for being behind the bar, since he owns the place." Brynley explained.

"So I hear you two had quite a meeting of historical minds today." Damon looked at Jenna and Elijah. Brynley looked at the a group of college students who were entering the Grill.

"Ugh, day drinkers." Brynley mumbled and reached behind her, grabbing a tray.

"Yeah, I guess you could say that." Jenna nodded and Brynley began to prepare multiple tequila shots for the group of young adults coming this way.

"Well, as much as I'd like to continue this, I've got papers to grade. Bryn." Alaric called and Brynley walked over, taking the cash he placed on the table. Then he took out five more dollars and handed it to her. "Your tip, for having to deal with Damon."

"Thanks Ric." Brynley smiled and Alaric tried to walk away.

"No, you know what? We should continue this. Let's have a dinner party." Andie suggested.

"Ooh, my girl. Full of good ideas. I'll be happy to host. Say tonight. Maybe?" Damon offered and looked at Brynley. "Sorry B, adults only."

"Oh shut up, Damon." Brynley fired back before mumbling. "Besides, I have better things to do than watch you pretend to be a good person for a night."

"It's good for me. Jenna?" Andie looked her and Elijah smirked at Bryn for her comment.

"I don't know if tonight works..." Alaric sighed.

"Yeah, I'm free." Jenna nodded.

"It'd be a pleasure." Elijah agreed.

"Great." Damon smirked and Alaric and Jenna walked away. Elijah walked to the other side of the bar, motioning for Bryn to follow him, and she did.

"Aw, you're making friends!" Brynley squealed and Elijah rolled his eyes playfully. "Have fun at that dinner though, because I'm going to guess it will be very awkward."

"You're only saying that because you weren't invited." Elijah joked.

"Kinda glad I'm not, I have stuff to do." Brynley said.

"Like what?"

"I have to walk my fish." Brynley smirked as the group of college kids walked to the bar. She looked at Elijah. "Give me two seconds."

Brynley walked back to the other side of the bar.

"Hey guys, welcome to the Mystic Grill, what can I get for you guys?" Brynley asked politely as a couple of the boys looked at her strangely.

"10 tequila shots and your number." One of them flirted and Brynley rolled her eyes.

"No thanks, but I will be right back with your drinks." Brynley walked back over to Elijah.

"If you want, I can just compel everyone into letting you come to dinner." Elijah offered.

"It's fine, I actually have stuff to do," Brynley shook her head and grabbed a tray full of tequila shots. "My dad says he was okay with me missing school because of all this as long as I do the work that I missed, and I have an essay due tonight that I haven't even started."

She walked back over to the college students and placed the tray down.

"I don't see your number anywhere." The same guy pressured.

"I told you I'm not interested." Brynley tried to walk away before another grabbed her arm.

"Oh come on, cutie, why don't you take a break?" Another said.

Elijah began to stand up but Brynley sent him a look.

"Let go of me before I make my dad, the owner of this fine establishment, ban you for life." Brynley threatened before the guy let go of her and Brynley walked back to Elijah. "Frat boys."

"You should've let me deal with them." Elijah smirked.

"No one needs to lose their life today, Elijah.
