s2e20: the last day

Brynley looked down at the journal that had the spell she needed to break the curse written down. She stood in her bedroom in the Salvatore house, on video chat with her dad on the computer.

"I shouldn't have left, tonight's the full moon," Evan Fletcher spoke through the computer. "Helping you prepare for the ritual, I should just be there with you."

"Dad, it's okay, I promise. I think I have the spell down." Brynley tried to calm her father down.

"What if Klaus tries to hurt you?" Evan asked.

"He won't hurt me, because I'm-" Brynley froze, still not telling her dad about her being Elijah's soulmate. "I'm the only Hollis fairy here, Mom has been MIA for the last 14 years so, I'm his only option."

"I'm just worried, blossom." Evan sighed. He was currently out of town on business. He has been talking to Brynley about opening another restaurant on another state with a friend of his.

"It's better that you're not here, I don't have to worry about Klaus doing anything to you in order to get to me. Tyler is out of town too, so all I have to worry about it Matt." Brynley explained. "Everything will be fine, Dad."

"Alright, I'm gonna go," Evan said. "I love you, Brynley-B."

"I love you too, Dad." Brynley smiled before hanging up with call and staring back down at her journal.

"Jo, la bruixa i els esperits de la natura, estem reunits per trencar aquesta maledicció. Trencar el lligam i alliberar el llop." Brynley whispered, practicing the pronunciation of the spell.

"Brynley! Get down here!" Damon yelled and Brynley grabbed the journal and ran downstairs.

"Hey." Brynley smiled at Elijah and sat down in a chair.

"Hello." The original whispered and turned to the Salvatores and Elena. "Tonight is the full moon. We should assume that Klaus is prepared to break the curse."

"Elena said that the Sun and the Moon curse is fake? That it's actually just a curse placed on Klaus." Stefan spoke up.

"Klaus is a vampire born of a werewolf bloodline. The curse has kept his werewolf aspect from manifesting. But if he breaks it...He'll be a true hybrid." Elijah explained once more

"Then why are we letting him break the curse? We can kill him today. With Bonnie." Damon said and Elijah sat down next to Brynley, looking over the spell she was looking at. The one she had to perform in order to break the curse.

"Do you think you're ready?" Elijah whispered to her.

"Doesn't really matter, does it?" Brynley whispered back. "The ritual is happening, and I, a newbie fairy, am suppose to break a thousand year curse even though I've only been practicing magic for a couple weeks."

"If anyone can do it, it's you." Elijah said with a smile.

"Thank you." Brynley smiled.

"All right, how do we break this curse?" Stefan asked.

"Well, the ritual itself is relatively straightforward. The ingredients, so to speak, you already know." Elijah stood up.

"The moonstone." Stefan added.

"A witch will channel the power of the full moon to release the spell that's bound within the stone. Then the Hollis fairy, will perform a spell to break the spell that is in the stone," Elijah explained. "After that, Klaus, being both werewolf and vampire, will sacrifice one of each."

"And where do I fit into it?" Elena asked.

"The final part of the ritual." Elijah took a box of the shelf. "Klaus must drink the blood of the doppelgänger...to the point of your death."

"And that's where you come in." Elena stated.

"This is an elixir that I acquired some 500 years ago for Katerina. It possesses mystical properties of resuscitation." Elijah held up a jar.

"So I'll be dead?" Elena questioned.

"And that you won't." Elijah said.

"That's your plan? A magical witch potion with no expiration date?" Damon yelled.

"Technically there's fairy magic in there as well." Elijah corrected.

"You want to come back to life, what about John's ring?" Damon recommended.

"Those rings only work on humans. The doppelgänger's a supernatural occurrence. Odds are, the ring won't work." Elijah informed.

"I'll take those odds over your elixir. What if it doesn't work, Elena?" Damon turned to the Gilbert girl.

"Then I guess I'll just be dead." Elena shrugged and Damon left the room.

"Do we know if Klaus has everything he needs to do this? Does he have a werewolf?" Elena asked.

"Klaus has been waiting to break this curse for over a thousand years. If he doesn't already have a werewolf, my guess is by tonight, he will." Elijah answered and turned to Brynley. "He should be coming to retrieve you soon."

"I can't just stay here until it's time to perform the ritual?" Brynley stood up and Elijah looked at her, brushing a lock of hair behind her ear.

"It's not up to me," Elijah sighed. "If it was, you would stay with me until the very moments he needs you."

"Oh crap, it's Matt," Brynley looked down at her phone. "He needs my help at the Grill."

"Brynley-"

"I'm in charge of the Grill right now, since my dad's out of town, I need to be there." Brynley repeated. "I'll be okay, I'll call you if I need anything."

-

"Hey, Caroline, it's me. I thought you were coming back to meet me. Look, I need to talk to you. It's important." Matt spoke to Caroline on the phone at the Grill as Brynley walked up to him.

"I'm glad you two were able to fix things." Brynley took a sip of water.

"Thanks B, and thanks for coming." Matt smiled.

"No problem, the health department comes to annoy us all the time," Brynley shook her head. "I postponed the inspection until my dad comes back into town. Now, I've got to go."

"Alright," Matt sighed and the two best friends hugged.

"I'll see you later, Matt." Brynley walked out of the Grill and towards her car. She was about to open but a hand grabbed her shoulder, turning the girl around to see Klaus Mikaelson. "Klaus."

"Good, you recognize my face." Klaus smirked. "I'm assuming you've learned the spell by now."

"Yes," Brynley nodded. "Can't you just let me go until- oh my god!"

Brynley began to scream in pain as she fell on the ground and Klaus's witch, Maddox, came from behind.

"Sonum." Maddox whispered and Brynley fell unconscious, Klaus catching her head before it could hit the ground.

"Keep her with the others until the ritual, but make sure no other harm comes to her." Klaus demanded and Maddox nodded.

-

Brynley woke up feeling a burning pain around her wrist. She opened her eyes to see ropes around wrists, them burning her skin severely every time she moved.

"Ow." Brynley hissed as she looked around to see a woman with blue eyes, one she recognized immediately, staring at her. "Mom?"
