"Felix, you're driving like my Nonno." said Marco as a cyclist overtook them.
"Your what?" Felix glanced into the rear view mirror at his friend in the seat behind him.
Mika took out an earbud to chime into the conversation. "His grandpa." Marco and Mika shared a look. "Marco, you can't speak Italian around Felix because he can't comprehend any language other than his own."
"He can barely habla English." said Robyn as she shuffled in her seat crammed between Mika and Marco.
"What?" Felix repeated causing laughs to erupt inside the seven seater Land Rover.
"Ignore them Felix, they're just being immature." said Piper. "Take a left here."
"Should you even be navigating? I thought the only map you knew how to use is the one at the mall." Robyn scoffed.
"I'm in the front, it's my Dad's car, so I'm directing." Piper snapped back at her.
"I don't care who navigates as long as we don't get chased by a bear going this slow." said Jax.
"Jax, there are no bears in this part of Georgia." Piper sighed.
"Are you sure? I'm not used to this, there aren't bears in Wales."
Robyn turned around to face Jax. "Here." She offered him a bag of Flamin Hot Cheetos. "You haven't eaten for ten minutes, you must be starving. And oh look! They match your hair color!"
"Hilarious." Jax reluctantly accepted the bag. "Ta."
"Huh?"
"I mean thanks."
"Oh."
Mika looked up through the open window at sun rays escaping through tree canopies as they drove steadily up the twisted mountain road. Miles away from any city or town, the six friends had been in the car for at least two hours now and were becoming restless. Mika leaned forward as they passed a yellow sign post: 'WATCH FOR FALLING ROCKS'.
"How far are we from the house?"
"It's a cabin." Piper corrected
"Okay, yeah. The cabin."
"Only like two miles. Americans are so bloody impatient."
Marco leaned forward too. "I'm sorry, who was the one that bribed a girl in a checkout line just to get to the front of it faster?" he teased.
"Oi! It was only ten quid. And my roots were desperate." Piper played with her shoulder-length hair.
"Oh no, god forbid anybody finds out that bleach blonde isn't your natural hair color." Robyn said without looking up from her phone.
"Shut up, Robyn, you have purple hair!"
"Yeah? You'll have a purple eye if you-"
"Guys!" Mika shouted.
"You've gone two hours without bickering, please don't start now." Marco lectured.
Robyn and Piper huffed and returned as they were, faces in screens as Felix continued to drive. Mika gave Marco an appreciative smile as he leaned back in his seat. Felix turned the car onto a steep side road paved with dirt and bark. The incline of the road was at a high gradient, steep enough to cause Felix's fedora to slip off his afro covered head.
"Aw man...C-can someone grab it?" he said, pushing up his glasses.
Marco proceeded to pick up the hat and place it on his own head causing his quiff to completely cover his forehead. "M'lady." He tipped the hat towards Mika which stifled a laugh from her. "What do you think?"
