Kara's Pov

I sat against the fabric of the massive blue tent taking in my mum and Shane's lecture, my fists clenched as I tried my hardest to keep my anger at bay.

Earlier on, my mum had stormed off in a mood since Shane wouldn't let her take a car to find the man on the radio.

I decided to go and see if she was alright only for me to find them locking lips, that's what lands us to where we are right now.

I couldn't believe that she would so blatantly cheat on my dad.

"Your dad's dead, Kara. I needed some type of affection" My mum explained quietly as she sat across from me on a wooden chair beside Shane.

Her lips were pursed and she wouldn't look me in the eye at all, Shane kept glaring at me and I wanted to slap him so bad.

"Take a fuckin' picture, it'll last longer" I snapped over at Shane, he smirked to himself but my mum didn't find so amusing as her eyes finally stared into mine.

"Watch your language" She warned, her eyes wide in shock. I sniggered to myself "Last time I checked I'm nineteen, don't warn me about my fuckin' language".

She raised an eyebrow and sucked in a breath "I am your mother" She told me, her bottom lip quivered as she spoke, I let out a small scoff "Ya lost that privilege when ya locked lips with deputy dickhead" I snapped.

I had, had enough with their judgemental stares and their shocked expressions. I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear and stormed out of the tent only to bump into Daryl.

"Watch were ya' goin, sunshine" He told me gruffly, it wasn't aggressive though. Me and Daryl had been quite close since we joined the camp.

I understood him and he understood me, he was like an older brother figure. "Sorry, I've had a shitty day" I explained with a soft laugh, he nodded "Don't everyone".

With that, he walked off into the forest. He's probably going hunting since Merle is away in Atlanta.

I heard my name get called to see Carl and Sophia running towards me happily, a bright smile on both of their faces as they clutched onto pieces of paper.

I felt a pang of sadness hit me as I seen how happy Carl was. If he knew about my mum and Shane, the poor boy would be heartbroken.

"Look!" Carl tells me pointing down to his painting, the paint was glistening from the sun. He had painted the same symbol that was on his t-shirt.

"Look at mine!" Sophia pleaded showing me hers aswell, I frowned when I noticed a small bruise on her arm, must be from Ed.

I averted my attention down to her painting, it was a girl with long brown hair, I smiled "She's pretty" I complimented, her face beamed up at me "I know, its you" She told me.

I was shocked a little, she painted a picture of me? "I tried my best" She assured, I smiled ruffling both of the kids heads "They're amazing paintings" I tell them both watching as they glance at each other happily.

I walked them over to the table where they usually paint and stuff, Carol was sitting there fixing all the paints "Hey, Carol" I greeted to the older woman "Hello" she replied smiling softly.

Carl and Sophia hurriedly sat back down infront of Carol and began to paint again "It's a warm day, huh?" She states wiping the sweat off her forehead with a loud sigh.

I nodded in agreement "100°c" I informed, her eyes widened "Jesus, I knew it was hot but not that hot" I nodded letting out a small exhale, I looked ahead of me to see my mum and Shane arguing off in the distance.

I rolled my eyes, they're probably arguing about me. "I wouldn't worry about them" Carol assured, I know that she knows what's going on considering the whole camp do.

You'd be stupid not to see that my mum and Shane had a thing, it was obvious the way he would stare at her and the way she would sneak small winks and smiles.

But I used to just shrug it off and think nothing of it until today and what I saw. "They'll come around" Carol tells me, placing a cup of water down for the kids to clean their paintbrushes with.

I shrugged adjusting my holster to make sure that my gun was in place "I don't know about that" I said with a mutter.

I sat down at the quarry beside Amy, she laughed and so did I as we spoke about our most embarrassing stories.

We had managed to find a wine bottle in Dale's RV, I just hope he isn't angry, he doesn't seem like the type to drink, maybe smoke a bit of weed but not drink.

I ran my slender fingers through my hair as I took in the view infront of us, if you put all of the walkers and the end of the world shit aside you could actually appreciate the camp.

The mountains surrounded the quarry looked nice at night like massive giants protecting the camp and the moon glistened against the water making it look breath-taking.

I took a sip of the wine as I held it carelessly in my hand "Do you think this'll ever be over?" Amy asks peaking over at me, I shrugged "Doubt it" she frowned and glared at me for that.

"What? I'm just speaking facts" I defended, she took the bottle from my hand and gulped it down "Be a bit more optimistic" She told me with a nod.

I rolled my eyes taking the bottle back from her and downing it "How can I be optimistic when I just found out that my mum and my dad's bestfriend are fucking eachother behind me and Carl's back".

She sighed crossing her legs and side glancing over at me "Fuck your mum, fuck Shane" She said, I nodded in agreement, a small giggle leaving my mouth as I watched the blonde girl chug the wine down.

Amy was right, fuck them.
