Kenny's POV:
As I wake up, I hear the sound of rain hitting the tin roof of my home, but what's even better is the sleeping body next to me as her head is laying on my chest with her arm around me.
She's gorgeous in this state and no one else could fill my ultimate desire and yearning for a woman like her. She's perfect the way she is and I could not imagine life without her in it. I could spend all day talking to her, but my thoughts are interrupted by her waking up and looking into to my eyes and all there is:
Silence and her smile
That's really all I will ever need in my life is her and that gorgeous smile, among other things, but as long as she's next to me, I will be okay. She's the most precious one out there as we lean in to kiss, she starts laughing.
"What is it?"
"You need to shave."
"Why? I thought you loved my Santa Clause beard."
"I do honey, but trim it just a bit."
"After breakfast."
"Who's cookin'?" Dolly asked as we both sat up together.
"I'll cook for you."
"What's on the menu?" She asked as she slipped into my arms and I kissed her forehead.
"Pancakes."
"Sounds great!"
...
I'm standing at the stove, making breakfast as I look out the corner of my eye to see my little Dolly reading the newspaper and drinking a cup of coffee.
She's everything I've always wanted and more as I plate our eggs, bacon and pancakes as I sit them down in front of her.
"Anything interesting?"
"There having a fundraiser at the hospital next Friday night and among other things, you know. Plus, there's a hockey game two weeks from now."
"You read the sports section?"
"Yes."
"My kinda gal."
"I'm your only gal mister."
"You got that right." I said
...
Dolly's POV:
I decided to wash the dishes after breakfast as I seen Kenny walking his dog, which reminds me, I need to bring my baby, Popeye over, that way he can get familiar with being here.
As I looked out of the window, I seen my reflection of an almost middle-aged woman with no husband and no kids, which really got to me as I always dreamed of having my own family.
I look down at my bare hand to see no ring, nothing but the color of my long nails as I heard the front door open and little doggie paws walk into the kitchen.
"I think someone might need to stay out the flower beds."
"Did she get into the flowers again?"
"No, Our next door neighbor's dog did."
"As long as they both stay out of the rose bushes, they should be fine."
"And our azaleas."
"I was wondering something earlier before you came in."
"You want to plant more flowers? Because that's already handled for us baby."
"No, I was just thinking about us in general."
"Well honey, we have everything we've always wanted right here."
"Not me." I said as I seen the look upon his face, which meant he was confused.
"I'm confused here."
"In life, a girl dreams about so many things. A temporary job or dream career that will hopefully last a lifetime, a man that will always be by her side no matter what, good or bad, marriage, which one day, I want to get married and the two things I want more than anything in my life is..." I was about to finish but he cut her off.
"Could you see yourself marrying me?"
"What do you think?"
"Yes or no."
"Yes, I could see myself marrying you."
"Why?"
"Because you're the only guy I have ever been close to besides my own father and brothers."
"So, you could see yourself spending the rest of your life with me?"
"Yes."
"Then let's get married."
"I want a proper proposal."
"Fine, hold on a minute."
"Where are you goin'?"
He went upstairs to grab something as I waited impatiently for him to return.
"Here." He hand me a little box.
"What is this?" I asked
"Open it."
"Why don't you?" I asked him as he took the box and opened it to pull out a key.
"A house key?"
"Move in here with me."
"What 'bout my house?"
"We'll live there too."
"Kenny, Be real!"
"I am!"
"For what I thought was a proposal of marriage turns out this was just a waste of my time."
"What else could you possibly want?"
I turned around and looked him straight in the eye.
"A husband, a home and one day, my own little family, but I guess you just don't care." I said, walking out the door.
"Where are you going?"
"Home." I said as I got in my car, seeing him standing there on the porch with his hands on his hips.
I made my decision right then and there, if he doesn't take what I said to him seriously, these last few days have been for absolute nothing. I fastened my seat belt in and turned on my engine as I backed out of his driveway, with my bag and suitcase I had already put in the backseat this morning.
I ran by my house real quick to grab the essentials I needed and headed to the one place that always made me feel better, my home in the mountains.
