Song by Tally Hall on youtube.

///////////////////////////////////

Daniel pulled on the collar of his shirt to loosen it, peeking through the curtain of the stage, people sat at an assortment of tables, the cafe buzzing with excitement, shows were regularly performed here by volunteers. Daniel, Kevin, and Jen were the only ones that worked here, usually performing as a group. Songs were played every hour, after the hour mark hit a new group would perform and so on. All different types of genres ranging from classical to 50's-80's to pop, there was no necessary genre that you had to be to perform. Jen put a hand on his shoulder "Danny, relax. I can practically feel your heart beating just from my hand being on your shoulder" she commented, Daniel noted that and shrugged "you never get used to the buzz of performing i guess" he sighed and closed the curtain, straightening his sleeves "Ready?" He asked, receiving a nod from both Kevin and Jen. He plastered on a big smile and threw open the curtains, kids and adults sat at the tables, all of different shapes and sizes and colors, all getting along, what a sight. Jen and Kevin being his backups, the song started, Jen strumming a ukulele.

"We were playing in the sand,

And you found a little band,

You told me you fell in love with it,

Hadn't gone as i planned.

When you had to bid adieu, Said you'd never love anew,

I wondered if I could hold it and fall in love with it too..

You told me to buy a pony but all i wanted was you.."

The melody continued, both Kevin and Daniel humming very subtly. It was sudden, the ukulele started strumming faster, like something was wrong. Daniel closed his eyes, everything was flashing now, like bright strobe lights of white had blinded him. He took a few steps back, the ukulele seemed to blend in and turn into a horrible and long ear piercing noise. The noise cut out and Daniels eyes flew open, the cafe was empty, cups that were never there now sitting on tables, toppled over with purple liquid oozing out of them. He tried to step off the stage, knocking over a cup, Jen and Kevin were gone as well, merely replaced with cups of the unknown liquid. Daniel shivered, his shirt and hands felt wet, glancing down at his shirt and hands that were now covered in the same mysterious liquid. What had happened? He stepped off the stage, picking up a news paper that had been left on the table, the pages had been soaked in speckles of red liquid that had smeared the words, he could make out some of what it said "Residents of Sleepy Peak Compound found dead, source unknown." Everything seemed to move so fast, the café started spinning, he dropped the newspaper in favor of leaning against one of the tables to stable himself, the dizzy feeling stopped, and suddenly, everything went black.
