one by one kids grabbed the cups from the lined up tables and took a seat. one by one until they were all gone. Daniel watched mindlessly, as far as he'd been convinced, what they were doing was right. they were helping. He watched Gabriel stand and give a small speech of why they were doing this and what they would reach when they drank the poisoned liquid. the speech concluded and the kids all drank...
"what do you need help with? you seem to be doing just fine" Daniel took a seat at the dining table and Max gestured to his math sheet "They make these things impossible.." he huffed and tapped his pencil against the wood. Daniel picked up the math sheet and took a look over the problems, opened his mouth to speak and the house phone started ringing, he set the paper on the table and got up "give me a moment" he headed over to the living room and answered, Max folded his arms in front of him while Daniel was gone, letting his head rest on them, math was the most draining thing he had ever done, no sense of letting a little rest time go to waste.
...kids' heads hit the tables with soft thuds as the poison in the drink did its work, laughter and talking soon faded into complete silence. Daniel watched, un-phased. they were helping.
Daniel frowned and hung up, nothing but a useless call. he headed back to the kitchen, and stopped a couple feet away from the table, Max was just resting. right? he could feel his heart rate speed up, he was just resting. what had Max last drank? the room felt tight and silent even with the whirring of the fan near the door and the large space of the kitchen. kids' heads hit the tables with soft thuds as the poison in the drink did its work "Max?" Daniel shook the boys shoulder, no response "MAX!?" He shook it a bit harder, to which Max woke up "what...?" Max hissed, Daniels shoulders were shaking, he'd freaked out over nothing "..nothing, did you make any progress?" he asked, Max shook his head.
