Types Of Scams~

Okay, so I'm writing this chapter because there's been a lot of scamming going on lately. I think it's fair to say that most of us- maybe all of us- have attempted or successfully scammed someone. A scam, no matter how small, is a crime. I'm not talking about the law or anything, but it's really an emotional crime. I mean, I've seen people cry over scammed items.

Think about it this way- you've worked very hard since pets came out to make a mega neon shadow dragon. (This is hypothetical) This girl has an apparent YouTube channel, and want a picture of an amazing trade for their thumbnail. All you gotta do is help her- click the accept button, and she won't accept. But no- it was a trick. She accepts the trade and leaves the game. All of your work is lost.

There are plenty of scams, this is just one of them. I'm going to list a few scams below~

-Trust Trade challenge

-Fail trade (I'll tell you how people scam on this one. It's happened to me before)

-Duplicating pets

-Making a neon pet for you for free

-Buy a pet for money; note that this is usually a scam, not all of the time. But it's best to avoid these.

-'Trying Out' Your pet

-YouTube thumbnail

-Many more. I'll explain the scams above- if you know some of them, you may skip the section.

Trust Trade

Q: What's the point of a trust trade?

A: Well, the purpose of it is to prove to the other person that you are trusted. The trade goes like this- one of you has to go first and give the item back. But, most of the time, the person will leave with your item. They won't give it back.

.

A Red Flag- almost all of these are scams. There are many ways to trick someone into trust trading. Some people work together- so it looks like the person isn't scamming.

Trust trading- in my opinion- is absolutely ridiculous. The point of the game isn't to trust each other. Though it may be nice to feel comfortable with other gamers, it can be a trap. They may return your item, but in the future, take something of larger value.

Fail Trade

Q: What's a fail trade? I've never heard of it!

A: Well, it's quite simple, actually. A fail trade is a trade that doesn't go through- resulting in an unsuccessful trade. Here's how it goes-

Scenario:

"Flare, want to fail trade?"

"What's that?"

"Okay, here. I'm putting my neon shadow in with a sandwich. I'm going to accept, so you can have it for free!"

"Really? No way!"(The trade countdown finishes and the other player accepts the trade. But before he/she accepts, they give me a sandwich)

The screen reads: "The trade unexpectantly fails"

"What happened?"

"Basically, I gave you the sandwich before accepting the trade, causing it to fail. Anyways, your turn!" (This is a true story- this is how I got scammed.)

I put in a ride potion with the sandwich, and give he/she the sandwich before accepting- BUT before they accept the trade, they return the sandwich- and the trade goes through.

(This is a true story- they left and unfriended me. Don't do these- they aren't worth it.)

.

Usually, these are done for fun. But watch out- there are a few that are scams.

Duplicating pets

Q: Are duplicating pets possible?

A: Ha, don't we all wish. No, unless you're a hacker. I'd say all of these are scams- don't fall for them. They're kinda obvious-

.

99.999% of these are scams. Don't fall for it, you probably won't be the lucky 0.00000001% of people.

~~~
"I'll make your pet neon!" Scam
Q: Is it true that people can make your pet neon magically?
A: It's as true as unicorns- they don't exist. NO ONE IS GIVING YOU A NEON UNICORN FOR A NORMAL ONE. DON'T FALL FOR IT. ALL OF THESE ARE SCAMS, LIKE THE "DUPLICATING PETS" SCAM!
.
99.999% of these are scams. Don't fall for it, you probably won't be the lucky 0.00000001% of people.
~~~

"Selling by pets for Adopt Me! Cash!" Scam

Q: Do people really give the pets they sell? I hear that most people leave the game with the cash, without giving the pet.

A: From my own experience, I was given the promised pet a grand total of once- out of dozens of times being scammed. Don't think that you'll somehow be lucky because almost all of these are scams. I mean, most people wouldn't exactly pass up the chance of getting free money- don't deny it.

I don't think I need to write a scenario for this one- I think we all know how it goes.

.

99.999% of these are scams. Don't fall for it, you probably won't be the lucky 0.00000001% of people.

"Can I try out your pet?" Scam

Q: My ROBLOX friend claims that they've always wanted to try out a neon bat dragon, and I have one. They've always been so kind to me, giving me free ride/fly potions. It couldn't hurt to let them try, right?

A: Hold it right there- if they're a true friend, they wouldn't expect anything back from you. No matter how close the person is- if you don't know them outside of the game- don't risk it. It isn't worth losing hard work. Don't fall under peer pressure- if you're that type of person, simply don't accept free gifts from others!

.

I'd say all of these are scams- of course, I'd like to be proven wrong ;)

~~~
I explained the "YouTube thumbnail" Scam above. Basically, if someone claims to be YouTuber or a YouTuber's assistant, don't believe them. Jeremy (DON'T TRIP), Sanna (NotIAmSanna), and Megan (MeganPlays/Peachy Squad) don't have assistants, and if they do, they'll introduce them. They won't EVER ask for free pets. Keep that in mind- please.
~~~

Okay, so I'm going to explain a bit more. If you've scammed someone before, just don't do it again. We all make mistakes- and I hate to admit it, but I did a scam once. (Nothing big, but I regret it.)

It hurts people's feelings- they work hard for these items, and it isn't fair that they suddenly lose it to some scammer.

Think about it- imagine you were them. I'm sure you wouldn't be very happy. ;(
